Device and principle of operation
This respirator model has a rather simple device - it consists of three layers of different materials. The first layer is polyurethane, which is characterized by a protective color, has the appearance of a film and does not allow dust contained in the air to pass through. The device also includes 2 valves, between which there is a second protective layer made of polymer fibers. The main task of this layer is additional filtration of the air inhaled by a person. The third layer is made of a thin air-permeable film, in which the inhalation valves are mounted separately.
The front of the protective device has an outlet valve. To make it convenient to use the respirator, manufacturers additionally equip it with a nose clip and soft elastic straps, thanks to which the device is securely fixed on the head and does not slip on the eyes or chin.
The inhaled air enters through the filters, being cleaned at the same time, and the exhaust air is discharged through a separate valve. Using such a device, a person almost completely protects his body from the negative effects of dust.

The order of inclusion in a respirator and work in it [edit]
Before descending into the mine and before entering the respirator, it is necessary to conduct a cursory check to determine the operability of the main components, for which check:
- tightness of a respirator with a mouthpiece or with a mask,
- serviceability of the lung valve,
- serviceability of the bypass,
- serviceability of the excess valve,
- oxygen supply;
- serviceability of the signal whistle.
To check the tightness of the respirator, suck the air from the respirator system to the maximum possible limit. If, while holding the breath for 3-8 seconds, further suction is not possible, then the respirator is airtight.
To check the tightness of a respirator with a mask, put on a mask and, without opening the cylinder valve, squeeze the exhalation hose with your hand, pull the edge of the mask to exhale. Release the edge of the mask, inhale and exhale again into the atmosphere. With the next inhalation under the mask, a stable vacuum pressure should be formed.
Open the cylinder valve and take a deep breath. Free inhalation and the characteristic noise of the pulmonary demand valve indicate its serviceability.
To check the health of the lung demand valve, exhale into the respirator system, open the cylinder valve and take one or two deep breaths. The absence of resistance on inhalation and the sharp hissing sound of oxygen entering the breathing bag indicate the health of the lung demand valve.
To check if the bypass is working properly, press its button. At the same time, the breathing bag should be quickly filled with oxygen, a sharp hissing sound and an oxygen supply at the mouthpiece indicate the serviceability of the emergency valve.
To check the serviceability of the excess valve, inhale through the nose and, by exhaling, fill the breathing bag with air until the excess valve is triggered. A good overflow valve should open without causing significant breathing resistance.
To check the supply of oxygen with an open cylinder valve on the pressure gauge, check the pressure, which should be equal to the operating pressure - 200 kgf / cm² (20 MPa ± 1 MPa). To test the signal whistle, press sharply on its membrane.
Before entering a gas-polluted environment, put on a respirator. Switch on in the following sequence. Take off the helmet and clamp it between your knees, straighten the headband, put it on your head, taking a mouthpiece in your mouth. At the same time, open the cylinder valve with your right hand to the point of failure, turn the valve handwheel in the opposite direction by half a turn. Take several breaths from the respirator system until the lung demand valve operates. Put on the nose clip, attach the metal headband hooks to the rings of the junction box and put on the helmet. Wear smoke goggles in smoky environments.
Features of operation
Respirator "R-2", the price of which is only 115 rubles, must be used correctly. That is, during operation, the following rules must be observed:
1. Try not to allow mechanical damage to appear on the product. Otherwise, its protection will not be reliable.
2. Clean the inside with a soft, clean and dry cloth. Do not disinfect the product with solvents.
3. It is not allowed to store the respirator near open sources of flame, as well as in those places where direct sunlight can fall on it. At high temperatures, the product can melt.
4. After use, the respirator must be thoroughly shaken out. Naturally, all manipulations with it should be soft and smooth.
5. If the product shows tears or other damage, then it will have to be thrown away.
6. Try not to wet the respirator. From this, its technical characteristics deteriorate.
The presented product is made of environmentally friendly material, so it is safe for health. Subject to all operating conditions, such protection will serve you for a long time. Be healthy!
Product structure
It's pretty simple. Respirator "R-2" is made of three layers of different materials. The outer is made of polyurethane. As a rule, it has a protective color. The first layer is presented in the form of a polyethylene film, which does not allow air to pass through, and with it, accordingly, dust. It also has two valves built into it.
Between these two layers there is another one. Its task: to filter the air. It consists of polymer fibers. On the front part of the respirator "Р-2" has an outlet valve. For comfortable wearing, the product is equipped with a nose clip that prevents the mask from sliding over the eyes.
Thanks to elastic straps, the presented product is well fixed on the head. Moreover, they can be regulated.
Terms of use
Only a device that has not expired can be used for personal protection. The working respirator must be absolutely dry, as it loses its protective properties when wet.
After the selection of the device, it is carefully adjusted according to the degree of fit of the protective half mask.
To properly fit the protective device, you will need to follow a series of steps.
- Remove the protective respirator from the packaging, check its expiration date and the serviceability of each structural element.
- The U-2K device must be put on the face, and this must be done so that the nose and chin are inside the half mask. If this is difficult to accomplish, then you have taken the size of the protective device inappropriate for your height.
- A cotton sling is placed on the back of the head, the second sling is placed on the parietal part of the head.
- Using the available buckles, you need to adjust the size of the elastic straps so that the structure is firmly attached to the head and does not move even during intensive work.
- Design an aluminum nose clip to provide a good snug fit of the respirator in the bridge of the nose.
- If necessary, the contoured edges of the mask should be tightened to maximize its adherence to the face.
To check how tightly the respirator fits to your face, you need to do a little test: you need to hold the screen area with your hand so that air cannot flow through the valves. Next, try breathing in and out. If air cannot pass through the contours of the mask, but only inflates the structure, then you have put on the protective device correctly. In the event that air passes in the region of the bridge of the nose, you will need to press the nose clip structure more tightly against the nose. If all attempts to seal the half mask were in vain, this indicates that you have chosen the wrong size for the product.
Before starting to use, it is necessary to check the tightness of the protective respirator every time, and this should also be done after a long period of using the half mask during the day.
Since the U-2K device is airtight, condensation will accumulate in the space under the mask over time. To remove it, you will need to lower your head down several times and raise it again, while in parallel with the movements of the head, you need to perform several strong exhalations. If a large amount of moisture has accumulated inside the protective respirator, if possible, remove the device in a place safe for breathing, remove moisture, wipe the inside of the structure dry and put it back on its head.
After each use of the protective device, you must clean and decontaminate it. To do this, dust is removed from the outer part of the respirator by tapping the half mask on a hard surface. The surface inside the device must be treated with a gauze or cotton swab (sometimes they are moistened with an antibacterial agent, but more often with plain water). Carrying out internal processing, the structure of the half mask must not be turned outward. After processing, the U-2K respirator must be properly dried and put into a packaging bag, tightly sealed. Careful and proper care of the product allows it to be used many times - up to 12-15 times.
In order for the protective device to serve for a long time and properly, you will need to protect it from any mechanical damage. If through breaks are found in the structure of the device, any of the filter layers is damaged, the inhalation or exhalation valve is lost, the nose clip or attachment straps are damaged, then such a respirator cannot be used. The U-2K half mask should be protected from exposure to any solvents, since the foam rubber included in the protective layers of the half mask is destroyed under the influence of this chemical.
It should also be remembered that the polymer materials that make up the respirator can begin to melt if the ambient temperature reaches 75 ° C. For this reason, it is forbidden to store the product after sanitization on the panels of heating devices, dry it near an open flame, and use electric heaters.
How to use U-2K or R-2 respirators correctly, see below.
Requirements for the operation of respirator R-2
To ensure long-term service of the respirator, it is necessary to protect it from mechanical damage.
The respirator is not suitable for further operation in the event of the formation of through gusts of the half mask, gusts of plastic film, the absence of inhalation valves, nose clip, head straps. Wipe the inner surface of the half mask with a clean dry cloth or a cloth slightly moistened with water. It is forbidden to use organic solvents for impregnation of rags, since their contact with the half mask leads to a decrease in its strength or destruction.
The material of the half mask melts at a temperature of 80 ° C, therefore, the respirator must not be stored and dried near heating devices, fires, etc.
It is necessary to protect the respirator from the effects of atmospheric precipitation, as getting wet leads to an increase in inhalation resistance and loss of protective properties. After drying, the respirator can be used to protect the respiratory system from RP.
Technical characteristics of the respirator R-2:
- Respirator weight: 60 gr.
- Operating temperature range: minus 40 ... + 40 ° С
- Shelf life: 7 years
