If you have a cheap, unpretentious grill that you do not mind, then you can do whatever you want with it. And at the first need to throw it out, forget it and buy a new one. But if you purchased something serious, with a claim to quality, then we strongly recommend that you study the points below. Still, a good brazier now can cost 30 and 100 and even more than thousand rubles.
We would like to draw your attention separately to the fact that tomorrow we will write an article on how to choose the right brazier correctly. Since the ones sold in regular stores are often beautiful, but not perfect from a functional point of view.
We published the article, left a link to it at the end of this post.
So, how to increase the service life of the barbecue:
- Do not put out fire with water. After you have finished preparing food, do not fill the coals with water, let them go out on their own. The fact is that a sharp temperature drop and excessive moisture will lead to deformation of the metal.
- Don't forget the roof. Most modern high-quality barbecues are equipped with some kind of roof, but it is not always of sufficient size and it can be heavily flooded when it rains. We recommend increasing the size of the roof, if necessary, as well as making an additional cover or some kind of rain cover, if you do not put the grill in the garage or shed when leaving the cottage.
- Choose a place where there is no draft or strong wind. This will increase the lifespan as well as improve the quality of the food you cook, as excess air will raise the temperature of the coals and your kebab may simply burn if you leave it on for just a minute.
- Install the grill level. I highly recommend leveling it up, although this is not necessary. Some barbecues are already equipped with special devices that allow you to raise or lower one of the corners, but more often we buy cheaper options. Therefore, the main task in this case is to level the area under it.
- Clean and paint the grill regularly. This is an obvious thing, but many people forget to clean out soot and varnish, and this is a very important point both for the quality of food and for increasing the service life. Also, at the beginning of the season, we strongly recommend painting over the grill with special paints to protect against metal corrosion.
- If the grill is too heavy, and it is inconvenient to carry it here and there, then at least for the winter, remove it indoors, for example, in a barn. And in the summer, as we wrote above, do not forget about the additional cover.
- Do not use bad wood, coals, etc. Painted or varnished pieces of wood, no chipboard, are not suitable as fuel, and it is advisable to abandon coniferous logs, since even they emit unnecessary resins that can burn out badly. And, of course, do not burn garbage in your grill, even paper.
Well, as we wrote at the very beginning, here is an already published article: what is the right brazier: 5 tips for choosing.
