So what I needed:
- Glass jar (500 ml);
- Macrame cord (12 meters);
- Soil for plants;
- Flower;
- Scissors.
For starters, a few tips that I followed.
Choose a flower so that it is not cramped in a 500 ml jar. Violets, begonias, Kalanchoe, hydrangeas, geraniums, dwarf roses will feel good in such a pot. You can also choose hanging plants such as golden scindapsus, ivy, nephrolepis and others.
The cord can be any, the main thing is strong enough, but it is advisable to take a thick one as well, since a thin one will not be so pretty, and decorative knots will not be visible on it. I think about 5 mm thick will be just right. If you take it from polyester, it will be much cheaper, from 6 rubles per meter, i.e. the whole cord will cost 70-80 rubles. You can also take cotton, but it already costs from 20 rubles per meter. For our purpose, simple cords are quite suitable, you can even take an economic one, it costs 15 rubles per 25 meters.
As for the can, I think it can be found in every home, but even if it is not there, you can buy it at the nearest store, it will cost 10-20 rubles.
Since our planter is hanging, you need to make a strong and reliable fastener or hook. In hardware stores, you can find beautiful decorative crochet hooks of different styles and price ranges. They cost from 50 rubles. Here are some pricing options:
For each plant, it is better to use a proportional planter. But for my version, I took a rather pancake cord, as I wanted to make it with a beautiful "fringe" at the bottom.
I highly recommend watching the video at the end of the article, as the photos may not be clear.
So, step by step:
- We divide our 12-meter cord into 4 parts. Fold each in half and tie them all in the middle as in the photo. The resulting loop will be hung on the hook that we have prepared.
- The cord can be braided in different ways, I used a decorative spiral knot here, but you can do something different or not decorate this part at all.
- Next, we braid the basket, I propose to do the simplest option: we tie simple knots at the same distance from the loop (photo 4). Next, we also tie each pair with a simple knot (as in photo 5). And then we take all the ends, connect them into one bundle and tie them with a knot (as in photo 6).
- The remaining parts of the cord at the bottom can be made longer or shorter by cutting off.
- There is very little left! Insert the jar into our grid, as in the photo, covering the ground and planting the plant. It would be possible, of course, to plant a flower first, but it was more convenient for me.
