How to choose the right cornice by color

Choosing a curtain for an existing room design

Most often, the arrangement of the window space is the final stage of the repair. Therefore, the choice of curtain design is based on the existing style of decoration. The following are some guidelines for choosing curtain rods.

  1. The classic style is iron and wood. If your living room, bedroom, study or kitchen is decorated in the classic style of old England, then it would be ideal to use both wooden cornices made of expensive wood and forged luxury items. But for the French "Provence" white wooden facades will look better.

  2. Plastic hangers can be ideal substitutes for wood and metal. Therefore, they are often used to decorate rooms of almost all styles. Due to the availability of crossbars of different textures on sale, repeating natural materials (wood, metal, ceramics, granite, marble), they have gained great popularity.

  3. String systems should be noted separately. For the "Hi-tech", "Loft", "Scandinavian style" style, such suspensions have become an indispensable attribute that harmoniously complements and concisely expresses the essence of these directions.

When decorating a modern home, they often combine various types of curtains and, as a result, cornices for them.

Over the past 5 years, Roman, French, Austrian, Italian and English curtains have gained great popularity. The bay windows are beautifully complemented by special flexible profile guides. The choice is great. There are options for every connoisseur.

How to determine the size

If you want the curtains to be from wall to wall, then the cornice should be almost the same length. It can be 10 cm shorter, but it can be close. If you are only going to close the window, then the length of the cornice should be at least 50 cm greater than the width of the window opening. More is possible, but less is not desirable.

In general, the length is determined by everyone for himself. You can proceed from the following considerations:

  • If the window is large, there is more than enough light in the room, you can take the cornice of the minimum length: the width of the window opening + 40 cm (20 cm on each side). In this case, the open curtains will slightly overlap the window.
    The minimum distance from the edge of the window opening is 20 cm
  • If the window is already small and faces north, then it is better that at least 30 cm remain on the sides. In this case, even thick curtains in the assembled state will fit on the side of the window.
  • Two windows on one wall with a small partition. It is best to make one long curtain holder. It will look much more modern.

There is one thing to consider when choosing the length of the ceiling cornice. It must be fixed so that the farthest row of curtains (tulle) does not touch the heating radiators. This should be taken into account, because not all of our rooms have perfect geometry.

How to choose a cornice according to the size of the window

The width of the curtains, the width of the cornice are usually different numbers, because exactly the dimensions of the fabric are selected for roller blinds, while the rest suggest an increase for drapery. But before deciding on the curtains, you need to know how to calculate the length of the cornice.

If the standard size of the cornice does not match your measurement of the opening in length, then it can always be filed.

Choose them under the curtains as follows.

Add 15 cm to the horizontal value of the window opening on each side. This means that in total you will need to add 30-40 centimeters.
But there are exceptions that must be reckoned with: the ability of the material to drape, and how harmoniously the size of the window fits into the setting

It is necessary to increase it to 50-60 cm if it is too small and it is important to visually enlarge it. And if the curtains are not prone to folds, they are heavy, then you need to think over so that it is convenient to move them to the side, letting light better penetrate the room.
If you have a large window, you can choose the length of the increase less than usual, but it is recommended not to make it shorter than ten cm from each end.

Wall cornices with a length of 3 m must have at least 3 support points: 2 on the sides, one in the middle.

The erroneous opinion of newcomers is the selection of the length of the cornice end-to-end with the window opening, in which case there will be a gap. And then the curtains do not fulfill their direct purpose: limiting the amount of sunlight inside the room and interior design. After all, it will not have external attractiveness, and there will also be gaps, which they usually try to get rid of.

The standard parameters were derived from the ergonomics of typical rooms, in which windows and walls are practically the same size.

Variety by type of attachment

As previously described in the article, the types of curtain fasteners differ. Standard options are wall and ceiling hangers. At the same time, the wall-mounted ones are mounted on special brackets that come with the delivery to the product. They are easy to install using dowel nails.

Modern wall-mounted metal profile cornice

Ceiling products are mounted on the same brackets, or simply to the ceiling. Profile hangers made of plastic or aluminum are intended for rooms with low ceilings. To improve the decorative component, special baguettes (ceiling plinths) are sold. They are made specifically for specialized products. Inlaid wood, metal, marble allows you to use baguettes universally for any design of the interior decoration of the room.

Depending on the requirements for curtains, hangers for them are produced with a different number of guides or profile grooves. So they distinguish:

  • single row;
  • double row;
  • three-row.

The choice depends on the needs of the owner. If you want to hang full-fledged window textiles, with curtains, tulle and lambrequin, you need to select three-row suspensions. And, for example, for Italian curtains, it will be enough to use two-row ones.

Profile types and rungs can have from one to three rows of guides. They are mounted both on the wall and on the ceiling. With this sorted out. What are window and telescopic hangers?

Let's start with the latter. Telescopic curtain rail options are similar to ordinary tubular ones. The main difference is the presence of a system of pipes of different diameters, inside which there is a finishing spring. One pipe is inserted into the other. The entire system is fastened in the window opening. To mount the telescope, you need to unfold it. Usually, such a suspension is used in bathrooms for curtains.

A sliding cornice is installed with a swivel between two surfaces

Window curtains are more interesting. For example, for Roman blinds, only specialized fastening accessories are used. It is divided into two types:

  • open;
  • closed action.

The open system consists of a support bar on which the lifting carriages are suspended

In a closed system, all mechanisms are hidden inside the case

In general, such cornices have from two to four lifting rings suspended on special ropes or cables. The lifting system is controlled by a chain or belt (depending on the type of construction). The principle of operation is simple: the reels available in the design, equipped with a spring lifting mechanism, wind the cables. But the cables penetrate the curtain fabric, at the end of which there is a plug (fixation ring). This system allows Roman blinds to gather in a characteristic accordion, exposing only part of the window.

Curtain rod device for Roman blinds

Such lifting structures are installed on plastic and wooden windows. They have standard sizes, so when buying Roman curtains, you don't run the risk of miscalculating the size range. Due to the simplicity of attaching the curtain to the structure (there is Velcro), this method of arranging a window opening has become very popular.

Adhesive tape is used to secure the canvas to the cornice.

Roman curtains are the only possible option for arranging sloped dormers. Therefore, curtain rod manufacturers have come up with fixed rails that allow you to install textiles at an angle, while ensuring that the curtain adheres to the window, without letting sunlight into the room.

Roman curtain rods for kitchen curtains are also used for Austrian and French curtains.
Comparing French and Austrian curtains, at first glance, it is difficult to find differences. Both options have a similar structure of arcuate, wavy folds. But there is still a difference: French textiles have folds all the time, regardless of whether the curtains are lowered or raised. Austrian ones form folds only in the raised state. When fully extended, they are straight.

Austrian curtains belong to the lifting type of curtains

But there is still a difference between the Roman type and the French and Austrian ones. The curtains for the last two curtains are of a larger format (size), so they are installed directly on the wall or ceiling using brackets or regular dowel nails. Directly, the curtains themselves are also attached with Velcro.

Forms of cornices

Each shape is able to emphasize not only the beauty of curtains, but also to make them functional.

The simplest, standard and familiar form. Attached to the wall with self-tapping screws.

Angular

A necessary detail for a non-standard room layout. It is ideal for soft zoning and decorating bay windows or windows close to the corners.

Round

Made from different materials. Quite often, such curtain rods are used in the bathroom to complement the interior.

L-shaped

Available in a wide variety of options. The curved stainless steel bar is more durable and can withstand more stress. This look is also great for standard plumbing models.

Semicircular

Arc rods are a rather unusual and interesting addition for fastening. They are used for non-standard or bay windows. Another most common use of such structures is to hang safety curtains in the bathroom.

Flexible (radius)

The ideal solution for the embodiment of design ideas. Thanks to the flexibility of this product, you can give curtains the necessary bends and turns. This model is suitable for the design of non-standard windows, as well as for highlighting individual areas in the room or creating oval-shaped canopies.

Hidden

Will not distract attention from the design of the curtains. The canvases flowing from the ceiling with a hidden cornice look especially elegant and graceful.

What does the cornice look like?

The fundamental function of any curtain for curtains is to securely fix the fabric at the required height. The cornice is a special horizontal structure with fasteners. The design is usually in the form of a simple barbell. With the help of fasteners, the rod is fixed to the wall, ceiling. The simplicity of the design makes it durable, easy to assemble / disassemble.

The round cornice consists of a rod in the form of a pipe, brackets and decorative tips

What styles can you use?

In modern halls, bedrooms, nurseries, more and more often, instead of standard curtains, roller types of curtains are installed. In this case, the need for a retainer disappears by itself. However, this is a rather bold, unusual decision.Most people still prefer classic window décor accessories.

It is impossible to arrange windows in a classic-style room without a cornice.

Modern curtains in interiors of different styles look attractive. They can be applied in the classical direction. Forged metal curtain rods are especially in vogue. They emphasize the nobility and sophistication of the classics. Plastic models are ideal for modern trends - minimalism, loft, hi-tech. If there is a stretch ceiling structure in the room, you can install the cornice hidden. For this, a special niche is being formed. It masks all the details.

In such a niche, the cornice itself will not be visible, so you can use any convenient way to fix the curtains.

Advantages and disadvantages of ceiling cornices

Ceiling cornices are called cornices that are attached to the ceiling and they are becoming more popular and here's why. First, the cornice on the ceiling visually makes the ceilings higher, because there is no horizontal division, which gives such an effect.

Rooms have a more modern look

The second point - you can drape the entire plane from one wall to another and from floor to ceiling. If the window is in the short wall of a long room, it looks more attractive.

Third plus. Since the curtains on the ceiling cornice cover the entire lumen in height, the absence of cracks makes the darkening almost ideal. And the "accompanying" positive point - you can hide the heating risers, which are usually located near the window.

There are other pluses:

Variety of design. There is an invisible option, neutral and with a decorative strip. This strip is attached to a special panel on the front of the eaves. It can be of any kind and style. Thanks to this, you can design the window in the desired style. For example, use flexible, metal-painted plastic tape. This is an option for high-tech style and the like. You can use an ornamental overlay. This option is good both for ethnic styles and for classics and even "palace" interiors.

Ceiling cornices can be invisible, and can be used to decorate the interior

  • Curtains move well (if you use quality products).
  • You can make curtains with controls. It is mechanical - a chain that must be pulled to close or open the curtains. There is an automatic one - using the control panel.
  • Any length. Usually, the ceiling curtain rod goes in a piece up to 4 meters, but there are connectors that allow you to increase the length to the required one.
  • Curved lines are easily realized. For this, there are either special flexible ceiling cornices, which can be given any shape, or prefabricated, in which the curvatures have a certain radius. They are inserted in the right place using the built-in lock, which does not interfere with the movement of the sliders (in any case, it does not interfere too much).

Ceiling cornices can be curved. Installation example in a plasterboard ceiling niche

Of the shortcomings, only the inconvenience during installation can be distinguished. It is inconvenient to keep your hands raised up, and drilling ceilings in apartments is still a pleasure. The disadvantages can also be attributed to the complexity of the installation in the presence of stretch ceilings. If they are only planned, anything is possible. If you already have it, there is nothing you can do about it.

Interesting examples in the interior

An interesting option can be considered modern multi-level systems based on rail or profile cornices. Most often, they use automatic sliding mechanisms. If there is a desire to keep up with the times, then this option is best suited. Such curtain rods are practical, comfortable, among their assortment, you can choose an option for any style.

Lovers of the classics can consider round wooden or metal curtain rods. They look spectacular with curtains on rings and are easy to use. But one nuance is important here.They need to be hung perfectly even, since even a slight tilt will move the curtains to one side or the other. Those who prefer reliability prefer powerful metal models that will look luxurious and hold the entire window frame on them.

Types of wall cornices

There are many types of curtain rods, which can be divided into:

  • by material of manufacture;
  • by the features of mounting to the surface;
  • by the method of attaching the curtain fabric.

All these signs are important to consider before purchasing a device.

Manufacturing material

Cornices are made from classic and modern materials:

  • wood;
  • metal;
  • plastic;
  • metal-plastic.

From the point of view of durability, wood and metal win, but in any case, the mass of the curtain is not so large that plastic and even more metal-plastic cannot withstand it. The choice of material is more a matter of design than practicality:

Wooden products will perfectly fit into the classic interior of the room with a predominance of warm tones from light brown to chocolate.

They can also be chosen for blue shades of designs, as woody colors will look good in contrast.

Wooden curtain rods can be successfully adapted to the ceiling plinths, stylizing the room in the style of a classic reception area.

Often, wooden wall cornices go well with traditional white ceilings; light curtains made of thin fabric or tulle curtains can be hung on such a cornice.

The cornice and tips can be made to order, so you can create a unique author's design in the room.

Such curtain rods are well suited for creating rounded curtains in the manner of a stage curtain.

Metal products are heavier and require reliable fastening. Such curtain rods fit into a rich, rich interior. Design style - from classic to modern.

Often, metal curtain rods are suitable for rooms with a contrasting, dynamic design.

The shape of the tips ranges from spikes and balls to the heads of birds and other original varieties.

The advantage of plastic is that it often merges very well with the ceiling, which gives the impression that the curtain is just floating in the air.

Often such products are used in the kitchen, where it is important to emphasize the modesty and simplicity of the interior.

They are also often used in nurseries.

And in the bright south-facing bedrooms.

Ceiling and wall cornices

The cornice can be attached to the wall surface above the window or directly to the ceiling. Each option has its own advantages. For example, if a stretch ceiling is installed, then it is quite problematic to dismantle its part to install the cornice, and in this case it is better to install the cornice on the wall above the window.

If you mount the unit on the ceiling, you get a beautiful impression that the curtain simply falls from above. In this case, care must be taken to ensure that all working mechanisms are carefully hidden.

However, if it is assumed that the cornice itself should serve as a design element. of course, it is mounted in a prominent place (more often on the surface of the wall in order to contribute to the interior of the room.

Features of attaching curtains to the cornice on the wall

According to the peculiarities of fastening the curtains, the following cornices are distinguished:

  • strings (the curtain is traditionally attached with clamps that are suspended on a string);
  • round (a fixed round bar is fixed to the bracket, on which the canvas is suspended);
  • profile - for roller blinds with a special mechanism that allows you to adjust the desired height.

String curtain rods work well for light, short curtains or modest colors. Most often they are designed for small bedrooms, a kitchen or a nursery.

Round wall curtain rods are a great option for the hall, large, heavy-looking curtains that emphasize the originality of the design. premises.

With the correct selection of the tip, the round cornice will ideally decorate the nursery, create a pleasant atmosphere for the baby and adults.

A two-bar system is often used. This design move works well if the color of the eaves contrasts strongly with the background of the room.

The round cornice is perfectly combined with the curtains on the eyelets, the fittings of which are specially designed for this type of fastening.

Profile cornices are designed for different types of curtains. They provide for all kinds of movement of the canvas - sliding, in the manner of blinds, rolling into a roll, etc. Such devices are arranged a little more complicated, but the differences are insignificant in terms of installation.

Profile cornices will successfully fit into any design

Often they are made from their plastic so that they do not attract attention to themselves. The curtain appears to be extending directly from the ceiling

Often an additional box is mounted for such cornices. In this case, the convenience of using the curtain is combined with a beautiful design - the box brings its part to the overall interior of the room.

Brackets

Please note that the brackets vary in length. If the length exceeds the distance from the window to the ceiling, then the bracket above the window opening cannot be placed - it simply will not fit. In such a situation, they can be positioned below the window. This is referred to as "partially above the window opening" placement.

Important! A cornice with a length of more than two meters must be mounted on three brackets. If the length is less than two meters, two will be enough.

The distance between the fasteners must be at least one and a half meters and must not exceed two meters. Then the cornice will be securely fixed: this will help to avoid deformation, and the curtains will not sag.

We make a curtain with our own hands: a brief instruction

When creating decor for window openings, many owners decide to make a retainer for curtains on their own. This is easily explained by several reasons. The first is that the price of finished products is too high.Quality products are quite expensive. Another reason is that some owners simply do not trust the quality of ready-made clamps. Regardless of the reasons, it is quite easy to build a beautiful cornice with your own hands. For this, you can use the materials at hand.

In this article, we will look at step-by-step instructions for making a round fixer for the kitchen:

  1. Preparation. First you need to find the right materials. The easiest way is to make a retainer from a plastic pipe. Plastic pipes are reliable, durable, easy to process. They are ideal for lightweight ring blinds. In a hardware store, you also need to purchase special wall holders, decorative accessories.

  2. Purchase of curtains, determination of their fastening method. The kitchen will need lightweight, durable curtains. They will be constantly tested by sunlight, heat, steam, grease. Curtains should be easy to remove, machine wash resistant.

  3. Cutting pipes. To do this, you need to use special scissors for cutting plastic pipes. If they are not there, you can use an ordinary hacksaw for metal. The pipes must be cut to the required length. Usually the width of the window opening is taken, about ten centimeters are added to it.

  4. Wall mounting. The pipe can be fixed on the wall with screws, self-tapping screws, special fasteners. Next, rings for the curtain are put on the pipe. The ends can be decorated with special plugs. The plugs can be matched to the pipe diameter. Installation completed.

How do you choose the perfect option for your home?

The selection of even such a small interior detail as a cornice is difficult for many people. What should be considered? There are several basic criteria.

The size. Not all rungs can be sized with a hacksaw. In some cases, the exact length should be known. To do this, it is necessary to measure the window opening using an ordinary building meter.

The wide range is undoubtedly the advantage of wall mounting.

Important! The length of the eaves must exceed the width of the window by at least twenty centimeters. Features of the room

It is necessary to consider for which room the product is being bought: for the kitchen, bedroom or hall. For the kitchen, a lightweight plastic pipe curtain rod is the ideal solution. In the bedroom, the nursery, you can install a wooden one. A forged crossbar will look harmonious in the hall.

For the kitchen, a lightweight plastic pipe curtain rod is the ideal solution. In the bedroom, the nursery, you can install a wooden one. A forged crossbar will look harmonious in the hall.

The variety of styles and materials made this type of cornices the most popular.

Number of rows. In this case, you need to decide in advance how many curtains will be hung, whether there will be tulle. But sometimes it is better to buy a two-row model, even if you do not plan to hang multilayer curtains at first.

This allows you to most accurately select an individual design for a specific decor.

Coloring, design. Window decoration should be in harmony with the overall style of the room. It is necessary to take into account the design style, the color of the curtains when choosing the shade of the crossbar.

They can handle heavier curtains than ceiling mounted curtains.

Manufacturing material. The choice of material should be taking into account the weight of the curtains, the style of the room, personal preferences, and the financial budget. The most expensive are forged products. Wood is also very expensive and requires additional fasteners. The available models are plastic. However, curtains that are too heavy should not be hung on them.

Such holders must be fixed to solid walls.

Clothespins for curtains

In most cases, fasteners come as accessories along with the cornice. But you can buy clothespins separately and combine them with different materials.

1. Eyelets.For such fasteners, round or string type cornices are a good option.

2. Hooks, loops and rings. These options are universal for all curtains. To hide them if they do not fit the style of the room, you can use the baguette panel.

3. Velcro. There are curtains that have adhesive loops or are sewn with an adhesive strip.

4. Creative approach. You can use paper clips, pins, or clothespins as curtain fasteners.

How to choose a curtain rod for curtains

In order not to miscalculate with the right choice, you need to be confident in the technical and external characteristics of the product. The cornice should harmoniously fit into the general style of the house and not stand out against the background of the windows. It is best to opt for neutral pastel shades. These include beige, ash, peach, mocha, graphite.

The fittings and shape of the cornice should also be laconic, not pretentious. The use of additional decorative elements will only be relevant for such unusual interior designs as ethnic or baroque. More modern modern, hi-tech or Provence do not accept inlays and other details.

It is also worth deciding on the shape of the window, which should be in harmony with the selected cornice. If you are in doubt about the window parameters, then you should consult with a specialist and, if possible, order an individual creation of the cornice. The type of fixing and material should also depend on the original window, interior design and personal preference.

Criterias of choice

Holders for curtains are selected according to the shape of the window and the size of the room. You should also think about accessories for hanging curtains.

Style of design

Rail, forged and wooden curtain rods are often used in interiors. Iron bars are chosen without decorations or with ornate decor, made in the form of a flower branch. Precious metals are popular: brass, dark copper, blackened gold and silver. Black and white plastic trims can be matched with curtains of any color.

Window configuration

Standard and asymmetric windows are designed with round cornices. The sloped roof window of the attic can be covered with a curtain attached to a rod with ceiling brackets.

For bay window windows, rail and profile ceiling holders, repeating the outlines of the openings, are suitable. Also, you can choose two types of cornices for windows of complex shape: place a Roman cornice in the center, and round bars or ceiling profiles on the sides. The whole structure will be united by a wide frame-baguette.

Room dimensions

Correctly selected cornice balances the room:

  • rectangular, with a window on a narrow wall, combined with a built-in ceiling structure;
  • a large living room will be decorated with wooden holders, baguettes with rich carved and stucco decor;
  • in the middle room, bedroom, study, the strings will obscure the window without making it stand out from the overall composition.

Round cornices are suitable for small and large living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens and bathrooms.

Place of attachment of the eaves

The choice of curtain holder depends on the density of the wall. If the attachment point is finished with plasterboard, the heavy cornice will damage it. Therefore, iron brackets are not bolted to the false ceiling, replacing them with lightweight plastic structures.

Material and type of product

Its price depends on the material of the cornice:

  • plastic is an inexpensive and lightweight base for ceiling structures. Built-in models of different shapes create the illusion of a curtain falling from the ceiling;
  • wood - classic rods can withstand a lot of weight, are combined with heavy plush, tapestry and light tulle;
  • metal - copper, brass, chrome-plated, gold-plated holders are the most durable and expensive.

By the type of surface, matte and glossy products are distinguished. Wood, metal, leather are imitated on plastic baguettes with the help of decorative coatings.

Accessories used

Cornices are made up of three main parts:

  • holders - they are brackets, hangers.Two main elements support a standard length bar at the sides. Long structures over 2 meters hold additional suspensions in the middle;
  • base - bar, strings, profile;
  • finials - decorative elements, installed on the side brackets of the boom.

There are open and closed brackets. The bar is placed on top of the open-type holders, and it can be removed at any time. They are fixed on the wall. Closed brackets are also attached to the ceiling. The bar is sealed in them and cannot be removed.

For fastening curtains use:

  • eyelets;
  • loops;
  • strings;
  • hooks;
  • rings;
  • magnets.

The details of the fasteners are matched to the types of holders so that the curtains can be conveniently removed for washing.

For the closed type of cornice and curtains with eyelets, hooks are additionally needed, otherwise the fabric cannot be removed from the rod threaded through the holes.

Purpose of the room

When choosing the type and shape of the cornice, the purpose of the room is taken into account. In non-residential premises, there are simple, technologically advanced wall holders. In living rooms, ceiling profile, wall baguette and round cornices will maintain the atmosphere of comfort.

Also take into account the interior design of the room. String and rail mechanisms, metal chrome rods will organically fit into the hall, high-tech style bedroom.

Installation features

When attaching cornices, general recommendations are taken into account:

  • The curtain should overlap the window by 15-40 cm on each side. This makes it possible, by opening the curtains, to open the opening as much as possible and let the sunlight into the room.
  • When placing the eaves, the protrusions on both sides of the window must be the same.
  • The distance from the wall is selected in such a way that the curtains do not touch the window sill and the radiator.
  • Curtains covering the entire surface of the wall should be 1-2 cm less than its length.

Installation principle of wall models

  1. The cornices are fixed above the opening at a distance from the ceiling that is 1/3 of the width of the above-window beam.
  2. Using a level and tape measure, the attachment points are determined in accordance with general recommendations.
  3. To prevent the long bar from sagging under the weight of heavy curtains, fasteners are installed every 1.5-2 m.
  4. The brackets are screwed with self-tapping screws through pre-fixed dowels.
  5. Rings are put on the bar and it is fixed on the wall.
  6. The tips are installed.

Rules for fixing ceiling cornices

  1. First, all structural parts are pre-assembled.
  2. The assembled cornice is applied to the ceiling, the attachment points are marked with a pencil. Ceiling rails are attached every 30-50 cm, following the general recommendations.
  3. Holes are drilled in the concrete floor and dowels are inserted.
  4. When installing a plasterboard ceiling at the installation sites, it is necessary to provide mortgages in advance. GKL will not withstand the weight of the curtain rod with curtains, so it is attached to a wooden bar that serves as an intermediate support. Embedded, in turn, are securely screwed to the concrete base using self-tapping screws and dowels.
  5. When installing the cornice on a stretch ceiling, a similar method of fastening is used - wooden mortgages are also provided, on which the entire structure is fixed. In addition, special rings are mounted in the tensioning fabric at the points where the self-tapping screws will pass, preventing the PVC film from tearing from the load.
  6. When designing a stretch ceiling, you can take into account the location of the cornice and leave a niche for it, without bringing the canvas to the wall with a window. Then the mount will be quite light and the curtain will be hidden in the created space.
