Step-by-step instructions for creating a hedge

A hedge must be done according to a pre-prepared plan. It is composed based on goals and ideas.

Types of hedges

The fence can bend around the entire territory, dividing the site into several zones.

The barriers formed in the latter case will make the site multifunctional. It will be possible to leave space for a playground, get-togethers with friends, sports.

The main point of the development plan will be the correct placement of accents.

Use curbs and tall, narrow hedges to outline the boundaries of the highlighted areas.

Planting a hedge

When planting a hedge, a number of nuances must be taken into account:

  • The most suitable width is 60 cm at the base, with a larger one it will be difficult to care for and maintain in a beautiful condition, with a smaller one - the fence will turn out to be too rare and will shine through. This is especially true for evergreen conifers, which, with a narrow base, can collapse under the weight of snow adhering to their branches.
  • For better plant growth, you need to prepare the soil in advance. For this, fertilizers are added to it, for example, superphosphate, bone meal, etc. After planting, they are annually fed with mineral fertilizers in the first 2-4 years.
  • The most suitable time for planting is spring, as during the summer the plants will have time to take root and will be able to withstand the cold.
  • The seedlings should be 2-3 years old.

After you have decided on the location of the hedge, you need to make a markup with a rope stretched along the proposed landing line. Then dig a trench to a depth of 40 to 60 cm.

The width depends on the number of rows. For example, for a single-row hedge, 50 cm is enough, for a two-row hedge - 80 cm, for each subsequent row, add about 35-40 cm.The upper (most fertile) layer of soil, removed when digging a trench, is laid on the bottom, under the roots of plants.

When planting, it is important to ensure that the root collar is not covered with soil deeply. It should be flush with the ground after trampling and watering, or it should rise 1-2 cm above it if it is in the ground - this will lead to its decay and death of the plant.

If you plant perennial flowers along the hedge, it will create a unique image and add color to the solid green wall.
