It happens that it is not possible to build a fence and isolate oneself from others. Or the site allows you to make zoning, but you don't want to build unnecessary fences. Plants come to the rescue, planting which you can get a beautiful hedge.
Tui
Today, there are over 20 varieties of thuja with different heights, radius of branches and color of leaves. But they all have one thing in common - high resistance to adverse weather conditions.
Planting thujs will create a fairly dense, uniform hedge with evergreen foliage. The main thing is to take into account the size of the trees of the selected variety, so as not to place them too close or, conversely, too far from each other.
Bamboo
There are two main varieties of bamboo - running and bushy. The latter is ideal for creating a hedge on the site. This plant has evergreen foliage, which, even in cold weather, will delight the eye with a bright color. The main condition for good growth is not to plant bamboo in clay soil with acidity above 6.2 or below 6. Bamboo likes abundant watering, but does not tolerate frost and is not suitable for climates with winter temperatures below -25 degrees.
Laurel plants
Laurel is a pyramidal shrub with dense leaves. In spring, it blooms with white flowers. It grows well where it is warm and dry, therefore it requires the creation of an additional drainage system. Laurel does not like cold weather, the minimum temperature that he can survive is -12 degrees below zero.
Privet
Privet grows well in Europe, where the climate does not imply prolonged frosts. In Russia, only the cold-resistant variety "Aurea" has taken root, which grows up to 70 cm in height and requires regular crown formation by trimming. They make not only spectacular low hedges, but also beautiful edging of flower beds and paths.
Holly
Today in the world there are more than 400 varietal varieties of holly. Most of them grow in the European part of the globe, while in Russia a low-growing variety, the holly Mezerva, feels comfortable. It is a hybrid of holly and wrinkled holly, which in our country can be found only on Sakhalin and the Kuriles, and has many varieties. The variety is resistant to frost and allows you to form a hedge from its plantings with a height of 1 meter or more.
Boxwood ("Buxus")
Boxwood is widely used as a hedge and comes in a wide variety of varieties. In Russia, the Colchis Boxwood has taken root especially well on the Black Sea coast of the Krasnodar Territory; it is listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation due to the active cutting down of plants as a result of the construction of roads in preparation for the Olympics in Sochi and attacks by a pest brought in at the same time. Boxwood has a beautiful crown and shiny leaves, from which you can cut any shape, it is used to create low hedges and decoration of the site.
In the temperate climate of our country, boxwood can also be grown, but it will have to be covered for the winter.
Yew berry
It is a park tree as it is ideal for forming a hedge by pruning branches. The plant has taken root, unfortunately, only in the south of Russia, the cold of the Central zone will be destructive for it. The yew has soft needles and bright berries.
Derain red
This plant belongs to the dogwood family, the dogwood is quite unpretentious in care, but gardeners love it for its unusual color of the stem. Young shoots have a green bark, but over time they acquire a raspberry hue. Derain can grow up to 4 meters in height, but regular trimming will turn it into a bright hedge that will adorn any area.
Chocolate Vine ("Akebia five-leafed")
In some countries, this plant is recognized as a weed and is subject to destruction, but with careful maintenance and removal of side shoots, it will be an excellent material for creating a hedge. To do this, it is enough to make a frame from improvised means and plant an akebia next to it, then it will be necessary to direct the movement of its shoots and form a dense green wall. The vine will also help decorate your existing fence. The main thing is to restrain the growth of the plant and remove shoots from the root in those places where, according to the plan, they should not be, since the vine grows extremely quickly.
Euonymus
This unpretentious shrub is distinguished by the fact that by the end of the summer season, when all other plantings have already begun to lose their visual appeal, the euonymus is still gaining beauty and power. In autumn, the leaves of the bush take on various shades: from purple to yellow and bronze. In the same period, bright pink fruits appear, which from afar can be easily mistaken for bright flowers.
