Spring adonis - use wisely or how to deal with poisoning
Quite often, inexperienced phytotherapists or self-taught grandmothers, not knowing the exact chemical composition of many plants and the influence of these elements on the biochemical processes in the body, recommend the use of collections from various herbs, which include spring adonis. In small doses, catastrophically nothing terrible will happen, but if you add to this inept preparation of "tea", then you can remember about nausea, vomiting, nervous excitement and problems with the gastrointestinal tract.
Due to its chemical composition, the spring adonis is classified as a poisonous plant, therefore it must be used in an extremely accurate dosage and after consulting an experienced doctor. It should be remembered that the presence of cardiac glycosides increases blood pressure by stimulating cardiac activity. In the presence of an ulcer of the duodenum or stomach, the infusion of adonis, even for the purpose of regulating cardiac activity, must be excluded from treatment.
It is better for pregnant women and children not to take "teas" and infusions, which contain adonis. You should be wary of collecting herbs if you are not sure of its composition and cannot independently determine whether there is a spring adonis there or not. You should not be very light-hearted about the preparations from this plant. The effect of them is quite strong.
If, for some reason, you have an overdose or poisoning with an infusion or other bittersweet-containing drug, you must first of all:
- rinse the stomach with plain water with the addition of activated carbon
- you can use a saline laxative,
- provide peace,
- oxygen inhalation
- bed rest
Never use emetics for such poisoning or try to induce vomiting on your own.
