Ivy

Common ivy is an evergreen climbing plant that has a long flexible vine with alternating leaves. It is a houseplant that lives in pots, often located on cabinets, supplies, etc. It can also grow on balconies, spreading around the house. Ivy is usually not placed on windowsills, as it does not like direct sunlight. But, at the same time, he is quite photophilous. The ideal conditions for its normal existence are diffused light. In winter, he also needs to have lighting for at least 8 hours. Therefore, lovers of this plant, supplement the necessary hours for it.

The plant develops well and grows at a temperature of 20-24 ° C in summer. In winter, he prefers a temperature of 12-15 ° C. If the temperature is higher, the ivy will need lighting and spraying, as it prefers moist air at high temperatures.

Be sure to periodically wipe the leaves with a damp clean cloth, or wash them.

As for watering, in warm seasons it is necessary to water it abundantly, but in cold seasons - moderately after 2-3 days.

Ivy is propagated by apical, stem cuttings and layering.

Apical cuttings are taken 10 cm long and placed in the ground, while you can cover them with a bag to preserve moisture.

Stem cuttings must be taken with 8-10 leaves. They are buried 1.5-2 cm in the sand for 10 days, after which they take root in the area of the buds and begin to germinate. Then they are taken out of the sand and cut into cuttings with one leaf and roots, and planted.

The layers are cut, and with a cut down, they are buried in the ground. After rooting, the plants are separated from the mother and planted.

I had ivy growing in the kitchen. Not a whimsical plant, does not require bright lighting. Decorates walls beautifully, hiding deficiencies. The only negative is that the plant is not flowering.
