How to grow asparagus from seeds

Asparagus belongs to a group of plants characterized by drooping shoots. Hanging vases called amples are often used to grow it. This plant finds the following uses:

• serves as an interior decoration and can be used when zoning a room;

• it can be used to create detached decorative flower arrangements in a garden or park;

• as a ground cover plant.

You need to start by preparing a box or container with a mixture of garden soil and fertilizer. You can resort to using ready-made soil, but only when there is confidence in the good quality of the soil. It is important that it does not turn out to be real peat, in which both seeds and adult plants are doomed to perish. If bad soil comes across, then parasites, like wireworms, can be found in it, due to which the plant can also die. Therefore, it is best to resort to warming the earth and watering the seeds with poorly diluted potassium permanganate.

After the soil has been properly prepared, asparagus seeds can be placed in it. One pack may contain about 5-7 seeds. All seeds should be planted in one box. The distance between them should be 3 cm. Next comes the dusting with a thin layer of earth. Finally, the box is placed in a transparent cellophane bag and placed on the windowsill. It remains to wait until the asparagus sprout from the seeds. This may take one week, or several weeks.

The sprouts that appear before transplanting should gain strength and get stronger. Only then can they be taken out of the bag, and they can be transplanted into pots when they reach a length of 10 cm. In this case, it is important to ensure good drainage in order to avoid stagnant water.
