Growing cauliflower seedlings and its features
To get a good harvest of cauliflower, you should first sow the seeds in time to get seedlings. This is usually done in the second half of March. Growing cauliflower seedlings will be successful if you properly prepare the soil for sowing. You can buy a ready-made mixture in the store, but if you make the mixture yourself, then in the fall you should prepare peat - it absorbs moisture well, has good air permeability, and is not prone to compaction. Sawdust should be added to low-lying peat. Mineral fertilizers are also added to the mixture: nitrogen or complex, dolomite flour, micronutrient fertilizers, which can be used as wood ash.
Growing cauliflower seedlings can also involve staggered sowing dates. This will make it possible to obtain a harvest over a long period. For the autumn harvest of cauliflower, seeds should be sown in the first half of June.
Large seeds are selected and processed. They should be kept for 20 minutes in water with a temperature of up to +50 degrees, then soaked for 8 hours in a solution of potassium permanganate. Seeds are sown for seedlings to a depth of 0.5 - 1 cm. The picking of seedlings should not be done - this will slow down the development of plants. For each small plant, you should immediately select a pot or nutrient cube.
Cover the pots with sown seeds with plastic wrap, the optimum temperature is 20-22 degrees. After the sprouts appear, remove the film. For the plant to get stronger quickly, the temperature should be reduced to 8-10 degrees. Soil temperature should be maintained within 18 degrees.
Small plants require systematic watering, but waterlogging of the soil should not be allowed. Seedlings are planted in open ground in early May. The plants should be 45-50 days old.
I myself have never grown cauliflower, but many friends who tried to do this did not grow anything - cabbage dies in the seedling stage ...
