Marigold flowers - useful properties
We inherited our summer cottage plot with a certain number of plantings. These were mainly fruit trees and flower bushes, among which at that moment marigold flowers stood out unusually colorfully.
Before deciding on the preservation or elimination of a particular plant, we decided to study all the beneficial properties of each of them. It is calendula that has the greatest amount of useful substances and properties, since its use is very versatile:
- In medicine, tinctures and infusions of calendula flowers are used, which can be purchased at pharmacies or prepared on their own. To do this, pour a tablespoon of flowers with a glass of boiling water and let it brew for 30-40 minutes, then strain and apply orally for diseases of internal organs, gargle / gargle during sore throat, stomatitis and other diseases of the oral cavity and in the form of lotions for inflammatory skin processes (abscesses, barley, etc.).
- In cooking, the poor replaced saffron with calendula even in antiquity, and also used it to add a beautiful yellow / orange hue to dishes. In addition, calendula flowers can be added fresh to various salads and other dishes, while the plant retains its beneficial properties and also has a beneficial effect on the body.
- In gardening - calendula easily repels pests. So by planting a plant under fruit trees, you will eliminate all kinds of garden pests (for example, aphids).
It is not difficult to grow calendula, since it is unpretentious to care for: you just need to water it during a drought and feed it with mineral fertilizers if you see that the plant is getting worse.
