Miscanthus belongs to cereals, it is thermophilic and has low winter hardiness. But the gardeners of our strip refute this opinion.

The most common in our latitudes, Chinese miscanthus has good cold resistance, therefore it is becoming more and more popular in central Russia.

This plant is very moisture-loving, therefore it will be appropriate to place it along the banks of an artificial reservoir on the site. Well, you can decorate an unsightly fence or ditch with it.

Successful cultivation of miscanthus requires a sunny spot in the garden. Miscanthus roots are very strong, powerful, keep the plant well on the ground. This decorative cereal grows slowly.

The soil for the plant needs loose, with sufficient moisture. But the cultivation of miscanthus at the same time is impossible on those soils where there is a strong stagnation of water.

Miscanthus begins to grow with new shoots in mid-May. At first, they have an even green color, and then acquire the one that is characteristic of a particular species.

Miscanthus is propagated by dividing the bush at the time when the growth of young shoots begins on it, in the spring. But in order for the delenki to take root, it is necessary that the number of shoots in them be at least five to six pieces. Otherwise, the separated plants do not take root.

To make miscanthus look good in your area, do not plant it next to tall and variegated plants. But against the background of ground cover or on the lawn, it will look great.
