Growing onions by bridge method in greenhouses

As a rule, the cultivation of onions by bridging is used to obtain greens, i. E. forcing the feather. This method is more suitable for closed ground, it is used in winter in greenhouses. The advantage of this method is the ability to obtain the maximum amount of green product with the minimum cost of space.

What is meant by the name of onion cultivation by the bridge method? This growing method involves planting the bulbs as close as possible to each other. In this case, burying the bulbs is not at all necessary - it will only be enough to press them a little into the surface of the loosened soil. In this case, one should not be too zealous - the soil compacted with pressure will interfere with the growth of the root system.

A suitable planting material will be rejected onions with a diameter of 3-5 cm. The consumption of onions for planting will be about 10 kg per 1 square meter (depending on the diameter of the bulbs). As a result of proper care, you can get a yield of up to 8 kg from 1 square meter. Considering the high cost of greenery in winter, this result can be considered quite successful.

Growing onions in a bridge way involves care, which consists in:

• weeding,
• feeding
• and systematic watering of plants.

Onions are moisture-loving plants, so the soil underneath must be constantly moistened. Top dressing is carried out with a solution of mineral fertilizers - for 10 liters of water: 20 grams of potassium chloride, 20 grams of ammonium nitrate, 25 grams of superphosphate. Throughout the month, you will need a double feeding with an interval of at least 7 days. The optimum temperature for the growth of greenery is from 16 to 22 degrees.
