Root celery seedlings - grow properly
Many vegetable and fruit crops, as well as ornamental plants, are preferably grown through seedlings. This is due either to the peculiarity of plant seeds, or to their low germination rate in open ground conditions.
So to get a good harvest of celery, for a start, it is necessary that its seeds germinate in room conditions, and a strong and ready-to-plant seedling of root celery is formed.
The seeds of this culture are very small, under natural conditions their germination is low, they require good lighting for germination, therefore it is recommended to germinate them for seedlings at a temperature of + 20-25 degrees.
But even if favorable conditions are observed, it is not worth waiting for seedlings quickly, they appear no earlier than 10-15 days after sowing the seeds.
After the emergence of seedlings, the container with them is transferred to a room with a lower temperature of + 15-16 degrees. Under such conditions, root celery seedlings are hardened and strengthened. In addition, celery is generally a very frost-resistant culture, capable of surviving frosts down to -5 degrees.
When 2-3 true leaves are formed on the sprouts, they are thinned out, seated at a distance of 5-6 cm from each other. Make sure that the soil is always moist, as celery is very moisture-loving.
Celery seedlings can be planted on the beds in the second half of May.
The soil for planting root celery should be loose, fertile, low alkaline or neutral soils are optimal.
When planting celery seedlings, leave the row spacing of about 40-55 cm, and in one row the distance between the plants should be at least 10 cm.
