Medicinal comfrey and its use in traditional medicine
Medicinal comfrey is a herbaceous perennial that can be found in the most unremarkable places - along a variety of ditches and ravines. This plant is highly valued by traditional healers for its unique medicinal properties: it has a powerful effect on the tissues of bones and joints. Actually, this property is due to its scientific name, which sounds like "Symphytum", which can be translated as "splicing, joining." However, such properties are reflected in the popular name of the plant, which is often called simply the larkspur.
Medicinal comfrey is a truly miraculous remedy for a wide variety of ailments, as well as injuries of the musculoskeletal system. Separately, it is worth mentioning the powerful antirheumatic effect of the plant, which was described by physicians in ancient times (for example, Paracelsus was the first to describe it). According to literary sources, this plant was used in the treatment of the joints of the Russian Tsar Ivan the Terrible.
With all sorts of joint ailments, medicinal comfrey helps to quickly remove signs of inflammation and, in particular, swelling. Among other things, this plant contains a huge amount of such a substance as allantoin, which stimulates the growth and repair of cells of the so-called hyaline cartilage, located on the inner surface of the joint. Comfrey is especially effective for bone fractures: in such cases, the gruel from the leaves of the plant is applied to the damaged area (for example, on the side with a fracture of the rib), as a result of which the aforementioned allantoin begins to actively penetrate to the damaged bone, providing multiple acceleration of its fusion.
I have never heard of this plant. You will need to check with pharmacies if they sell this medicinal herb.
