Growing green beans - some subtleties
Green beans are far from the last place in our diet. And this is not surprising at all. Indeed, in addition to excellent taste and a lot of ways to use it, these beans are very nutritious and healthy.
That is why the cultivation of green beans is relevant to this day. It all began in South and Central America, where this plant was cultivated long before its appearance in our area.
Green beans are thermophilic crops and this fact must be taken into account - choose that piece of land that is well lit and warmed up by the sun. For soil, prefer moderately moist light to medium loam.
What else is good about this culture is that the cultivation of green beans can be started immediately after the last frost. However, it is still recommended to be more patient and wait for the warm June days. It is noteworthy that beans with dark peels can germinate at temperatures several degrees lower than required for sprouting beans with white peels.
During seed germination, it is important to provide the plant with good watering. Green beans can generally be described as a moisture-loving plant.
The first shoots can be expected up to 25 days, but the beginning of fruiting depends on the variety of beans. Early varieties are able to please with the harvest already 60 days after sowing the seeds, but the late varieties will begin to bear fruit only on the 130th day.
You need to know that green beans can be bush and braided. This is very important for gardeners who do not have large plots of land at their disposal - braided beans are more compact.
By the way, I just discovered green beans this year. But personally, I like the bush varieties of this culture more.
