Forsythia shrub
How many times have I admired this tree - I was always attracted by the fact that its branches are strewn with many yellow flowers, but no leaves were found among them.
This shrub is called forsythia. It is notable primarily for its early flowering. Its golden-yellow flowers, similar to small bells, have been pleasing our eyes since the beginning of April, when almost no tree or shrub is still going to bloom.
If you decide to decorate the courtyard with this plant, then try to plant it in a lighted place, although forsythia does not grow badly in the shade. The main thing is that the chosen place is protected from the winds.
The forsythia shrub loves a soil consisting of sand, leafy earth and humus. When planting a plant, it is important to organize good drainage - you can use crushed stone or broken brick. Forsythia will grow better if a little wood ash or slaked lime is placed in the hole before planting.
The good news for gardeners is that forsythia is highly resistant to pests and diseases - these troubles rarely bother the plant.
This shrub is not demanding for watering, and if there is normal precipitation, then you can not worry about it. Excess water affects the plant much worse than its lack. In early spring, it is recommended to water forsythia with mineral fertilizer.
An obligatory measure for caring for forsythia is its pruning. If the bush is cut almost to the root, then it will quickly acquire a young lush crown. Every year in the spring, old dry and frozen shoots should be removed from forsythia.
