Growing sparaxis outdoors
An exquisite plant with thin stems, long sharp leaves and rather large flowers, colored depending on the variety in one, two or three bright shades, is called "sparaxis". This plant naturally lives in hot South Africa, so growing sparaxis in countries with cool climates can be quite difficult. So, in the northern regions, sparaxis is grown exclusively as an annual plant, and in the warmer southern regions, the bulbs of this flower tolerate winter well and bloom the next year.
Sparakis cultivation begins with planting its corms in a warm, well-lit area. It is possible to transfer planting material to open ground only after the ground has warmed up enough: as a rule, this is done not earlier than mid-May. If sparaxis is grown as a perennial plant, then it should be planted in the ground for the winter - at the end of October or even November, that is, when the temperature is low, otherwise the bulbs may germinate before winter. In this case, the plantings should be covered with any non-woven material.
As for the care of this bright and delicate flower, it is extremely simple and consists in regular watering during the period of active growth. Sparaxis is most often grown in rock gardens, where it looks great in small, brightly blooming clusters. Also, sparaxis is often bred as a crop intended for cutting (in other words, like, for example, daffodils or tulips), and sometimes this plant is kept on balconies and even window sills in small boxes and pots.
The neighbors grew such a flower on the balcony. But during the heat, they hid him, because he loves the light, but he does not tolerate heat very well. Leaves turn yellow and wither.
