Care and reproduction of pelargonium
Pelargonium is better known to us as geranium. We are used to seeing her on the windowsills of our grandmothers. For a while, pelargoniums were forgotten, it was believed that their cultivation was a sign of philistinism.
But in recent years, this plant has gained popularity again. Selection does not stand still, a huge variety of the most magnificent varieties of geraniums have been bred.
Care and reproduction of pelargonium requires compliance with some rules.
For example, in winter, pelargoniums need to provide a cool winter. It is better to maintain the temperature + 8-10 degrees, which is not very easy to maintain in room conditions. If you have a loggia or balcony, then it is optimal to take out the pots with geraniums there for the winter.
At low temperatures, care should be taken to ensure that the soil in the pots is not too wet. Pelargoniums tend to rot quickly under these conditions.
Pelargonium can be propagated by cuttings and seeds. The seeds sprout quite amicably, but it will take more time for the plants to develop before flowering. Therefore, it is preferable to propagate geraniums by cuttings, because even small rooted cuttings can bloom.
Geranium prefers sunny places, but grows well in partial shade. Watering plants in summer should be abundant, and in winter, as mentioned above, in moderation.
For the summer, it is better to take pots or containers with plants out into the fresh air; Pelargoniums are very fond of it.
Having mastered the care and reproduction of pelargonium, you will regularly admire the caps of bright colors on your plants from spring to autumn.
Do not forget about feeding: every week, starting in the spring months, apply fertilizer for flowering plants with watering.
Geranium is also useful in an apartment. Its specific aroma disinfects indoor air and repels insects. So, it is imperative to grow pelargonium. But it just died recently .. Therefore, I would not argue that the flower is unpretentious.
