Growing from purslane seeds
Purslane is a creeping perennial plant that grows to a height of 20 centimeters. Purslane is grown as an annual plant. The plant is most often used in rocky gardens, flower beds and borders.
Purslane leaves are small, fleshy, cylindrical, green or slightly reddish. The flowers are cupped, simple or double, they consist of five petals fused together, of medium size. The diameter of the flowers reaches 2.5-3 centimeters. The flowers are of different colors. They can be white, cream, yellow, bright orange, pink and red with various hues. In gardening, species with double flowers are especially appreciated. An example is "Double Mix". There are cultures with bicolor corollas.
Growing from purslane seeds begins in March. The seeds are sown in greenhouses. Seeds need a lot of light, so on cloudy days and in the evening they need to be supplemented with a lamp. With a lack of lighting, seedlings may die. The bottom of the pot should consist of a drainage layer, since the seedlings do not tolerate waterlogging well. The potting soil should not include peat and organic fertilizers.
Growing from purslane seeds will be effective if the seedlings are provided with sufficient lighting, optimal watering and regular ventilation. The plant grows slowly for the first month. Watering the purslane is first recommended from the pallet. In June or July, purslane can be cuttings. In this way, the plant can be propagated. To collect seeds, at the end of August, the pots are transferred to the house and left there until the seeds ripen.
Thanks to your article, I understood why my purslane seedlings died - they did not have enough light to gain strength. Well, next season I will try to do everything correctly.
