Successful cultivation of clarkia - what is needed for this

Clarkia, an annual plant, can decorate any flower garden or flower bed. Thanks to its abundant flowering, elegant flowers of bright color, it is one of the contenders for the title of queen among flowering plants.

But in order for the cultivation of clarkia and, most importantly, the flowering to be successful, it is necessary to take into account the needs of the plant when planting.

Clarkia is a demanding flower plant in terms of soil condition. In order for the plants to grow well and bloom profusely, the soil mixture must be not very fertile, loose, with low acidity, and moist. If the soil in the flowerbed is oily and nutritious, then river sand should be added to it.

The advantage of clarkia is its cold resistance, therefore, seeds can be planted immediately in open ground. This stimulates the germination of strong seedlings, good growth of clarke seedlings and lush flowering in the future.

The first shoots can be expected approximately two weeks after sowing the seeds. It is necessary to sow the crops with planting at a distance of 20 cm from each other if the seedlings grow low and dense. And if the sprouts are tall, plant them at a distance of 25 cm.

It is very rare to plant seedlings, because the moderate density of the clarkia contributes to a more abundant flowering of plants. For better branching of the bushes, the top is pinched.

Growing clarkia requires careful watering: water should not stagnate near the plants, since rot can quickly progress on clarkia.

Clarkia blooms from July to August. To extend the flowering period, remove old flowers from plants.
