Decorative view of yellow cinquefoil
Yellow cinquefoil is a very valuable plant from a decorative point of view, which is distinguished by unpretentiousness in terms of content and especially abundant flowering. Its size, as a rule, is very modest, but under favorable growing conditions, it can exceed two meters in height. In cultural cultivation, Potentilla grows mainly upward, and in natural conditions (and it lives in mountainous terrain) it grows in a horizontal direction. Due to its slow growth, this species is actively used by landscape designers as a curb shrub, as well as for planting on alpine slides and other varieties of terraced flower beds and rocky talus.
Cinquefoil yellow, despite its unpretentiousness, still requires planting in an open area with a lot of sunlight in a light lime soil with good drainage. It is highly resistant to low temperatures, but it is advisable to cover young plants using several layers of non-woven material to create a shelter. Three years after planting, the shrub should be cut off so that in the future it will form a beautiful neat crown. Not only diseased shoots are subject to removal, but also excessively long, weak ones, as well as those that grow inside the crown.
It is extremely easy to reproduce Potentilla: for this you can use both seeds (if we are not talking about varietal plants) and cuttings. The latter must be harvested in the middle of summer, and planted next spring.
