Growing sweet peas
These are certainly not the peas that we roll into jars for the winter and then put in Olivier. The fragrant flower on curly stalks is not so similar to its gastronomic cousin. It is decorative and sometimes finicky, but it is very beautiful and has many advantages. This is a wonderful screen, decoration of gazebos and terraces. An annual, fast growing alternative to perennial clematis and other creepers.
His name is completely true. Sweet peas have a very pleasant aroma. The range of flowers allows the gardener to choose a plant to his liking: at least for curtains, at least for a fence :) Pink, purple, red, white with veins or cream - by mixing different shades, you get a bright rainbow that braids any nearby supports. Another advantage is cold resistance (up to -5). Thanks to this property, it is one of the first to bloom, and the flowering period can last three months continuously.
Growing sweet peas is a disastrous business if you do not know the basic rules for caring for this plant. Firstly, one should not experiment with seedlings, since peas are sensitive to transplants and stretch out on the windowsills, weaken. It is better to soak the seeds and sprout slightly on a damp cloth. When they hatch, you can go into open ground, to a permanent place.
Fertile, non-acidic soil, regular abundant watering, alternating mineral and organic fertilizers (once a month) - this is what our climbing flower needs. By removing wilting inflorescences in time, you can extend its flowering period.
Sweet peas love the annual change of soil. Change it or plant it in a new location.
