Bells in the photo and how to grow them
This plant is associated with fragility, tenderness and charm. The bells in the photo, oddly enough, can be seen in the hands of the bride, as they have long symbolized happiness and love in a new family. Collecting white and blue bells in one bouquet, you can please the newlyweds with this charm. Such a bouquet is called “bride and groom”. To please yourself and those around you with your bells, you have to work a little.
- The first method: spring sowing. Sow the seeds outdoors in late spring. Bellflower seeds are so small that 1 g can yield 1,000 to 4,000 plants! Therefore, they are pre-mixed with clean sand or crushed chalk. Sowing should be superficial, sprinkling on top with a thin layer of sifted soil or sand. Then moisten so gently that this thin top layer is not washed off along with the seeds.
- Method two: autumn sowing. Sow seeds after 15 October. Sprinkle on top not only with dry soil, but also with non-woven material, it will protect them from rain. They remove it after the snow melts, with the appearance of the first shoots.
- The third way: seedlings. By March, you should already have containers with drainage and soil mixture from earth, peat and sand (2: 1: 1) ready. Previously, the soil is spilled with boiling water or a solution of pink potassium permanganate. At the time of sowing, the soil should already be wet, not wet or dry. From above, the seeds are not sprinkled with anything, but covered with glass or film, removing the shelter only to moisten the soil with a spray bottle. They will sprout in one to two weeks. After that, the covering material is no longer needed, and the containers with the seedlings are placed on the windowsills, where they will develop until the end of May. At this time, they are transplanted into a flower garden.
In all cases, the seedlings will have to dive when the first true leaves appear. When growing seedlings, it would be ideal to plant each plant in an individual pot or not plant closer than 3 cm. After that, provide the usual care with watering and feeding and wait for the result. Perennials, as a rule, will bloom only in the second year. But after all the work done, you will be delighted not only by the bells in the photo, but also by cute fresh flowers.
