Tulips in the photo and in your flower bed
Perhaps anyone can imagine tulips. This flower is often depicted in pictures in children's books, it is considered one of the symbols of spring, it is associated with the country of origin: Holland, and for some, receiving yellow tulips as a gift means a quick separation.
What needs to be done to make you happy not only with the tulips in the photo, but also in the flower bed of your site?
- Set aside a sunny or slightly shaded place for landing, preferably a new one.
- The soil is well cultivated, loosened, enriched with peat compost with wood ash.
- Shed the grooves with a solution of potassium permanganate and sprinkle with sand for 2 cm.
- Plant the bulbs to a depth of 10 cm, keep 15 cm between the bulbs, 20 cm between the rows.
- For the winter, cover the garden with dry leaves and film.
- In the spring, when the snow melts, feed with mineral fertilizer for the first time. Then, during budding and flowering - the second and third time.
There are several important points, having dealt with which you will be able not to ruin the bulbs and preserve the varietal characteristics of the flower:
- Dig out annually some varieties that require a lot of heat to form buds (fringed, multi-flowered, double and parrot). Varieties with large bulbs that multiply intensively (Darwin hybrids and simple tulips of late varieties) are also subjected to annual digging.
- Cover for the winter when the ground is frozen from 1 to 3 cm.
- Cut flowers correctly: early varieties, as soon as the buds begin to stain, later ones - when the buds are completely colored. Leave a couple of leaves from the ground.
Tulips in the photo look great only from experienced gardeners and manufacturing firms. A person with little experience in growing them will have to try to get the expected result. But the effort is worth it.
Last year I was surprised that the tulips grew, although I did not care for them too much. It is a pity that I did not remember the variety.
