Gladioli in the photo: growing at home

Gladioli are excellent for keeping at home. At the same time, a variety called Gladiolus colvillei will feel best on the windowsill (gladioli in the photo are its typical representatives). These gladioli in the photo amaze with the richness of their color palette, which has more than fifty different shades, but in reality they look even more impressive.

The bulbs of this variety should be planted in early autumn in well-moistened soil (it is best to purchase a special substrate specifically for gladioli) to a depth of about five to seven centimeters. For two months, the pots should be kept in a dark, cold room, and then, when the first shoots appear from the soil, transfer them to the light.

Consider the conditions in which gladioli will feel best. So, bright natural light is suitable for these flowers (except for the time when their bulbs have not yet sprouted), so it is advisable to place them on the windowsill. The temperature in the room where gladioli are located can be quite low: for good development and flowering, the plant needs a mark of thirteen degrees. Moreover, at low temperatures the flowers will last longer. As for the humidity of the air, it must be dry: with an excessive amount of moisture, the leaves and flowers of the plant can rot. And finally, do not forget about feeding your green pets: every week the soil in the pot should be watered with garden fertilizer diluted with water.
