Growing and caring for verbena
Verbena is a small shrub. If the climate is warm, it is grown as a perennial plant. Reaches a height of up to 1 meter. To keep the verbena from the cold, it is dug out during the frost and transferred to a warm room, and in the spring it is planted in the garden. Growing verbena is not easy, but very exciting.
Vervain is grown mainly from seeds. Cuttings are rarely used. Hard and Buenosyre verbena are planted in late spring on open ground. The temperature must be kept firmly at + 20 ° C. The rest of the varieties are grown first at home in pots or special seedlings, and then transplanted into the soil. If you want to germinate the seeds faster, then the pot with them must be transferred to a very warm place and covered with foil. But as soon as sprouts appear, the film is removed and the verbena is placed in a cool, bright place.
When planting in a bud, the distance between the bushes should be 20 to 40 cm. Each plant is planted in a separate hole. Before planting, pour half a liter of water into each hole. Wait until the water runs out and plant vervain in the wet ground. Lower the plant into the hole, sprinkle it with earth on top and level a little.
Verbena is a rather unpretentious plant. The cultivation of verbena and the subsequent care of it consists in the correct choice of soil and watering. The soil should be dirt and loose. The place is sunny and well lit. 2 times a month, you can feed the plant with nitrogenous fertilizers. Watering is done moderately and regularly. In hot weather, frequent watering is required.
