How to quickly and efficiently clean the hood in the kitchen from fat

Each housewife faced such a problem as the accumulation of fat and burning on the kitchen hood. This is not only not aesthetically pleasing, but also violates sanitary standards and harms health. Every day, being in the kitchen, we breathe it. Plus, dirty particles can get into food. To protect yourself and your loved ones, clean the ventilation system regularly. This is a difficult and time-consuming task. However, there are folk ways to help clean the hood quickly, without much effort at home. I will tell you about the most effective ones.

How often to clean the cooker hood

This should be done about once a month. But if you use the stove often or cook a lot of fat, then cleaning will need to be done once every 2 weeks. Once every 1.5-2 years, you need to remove the grill and disassemble the hood.

What will happen to the hood if it is rarely cleaned or not done at all:

violation of functionality (air exchange is much worse);
loud noise;
loss of aesthetic appeal of the kitchen;
complete failure.

Also, as I said, a dirty hood leads to health problems. For example, headaches, dizziness, nausea, indigestion, etc.

Preparatory work before cleaning various hoods

Wipe only the panel area does not mean cleaning the hood. It needs to be taken apart. To do everything right, see the instructions for your model. If it is lost, then the preparatory work for cleaning is approximately as follows:

Disconnect the device from the mains.
Remove panel fasteners, if present.
Remove the grease filter that collects dirt particles. Typically, this element of the hood is aluminum or steel. There are also disposable ones, they must be changed every 3-4 months, and not washed.
Take out the charcoal filter (located in the circulating hoods). Because it cannot be washed; if it is heavily soiled, it will have to be changed. This should be done approximately every six months.

Flow hoods throw polluted air into the street. It is sometimes necessary to clean the ventilation duct. Circulating hoods draw in air, purify it and release it into the room. Step-by-step instructions for cleaning the hood

The easiest way to clean the hood is with special products that are sold in stores. Apply them to dirty areas, wait 30-40 minutes and wipe off with a cloth.

However, such funds may not always be at hand, moreover, they are not cheap. Therefore, you can use folk recipes.

How to clean the filter

Exhaust filter (grill) - a mesh that retains dirt from the air. As a rule, it is made of stainless steel that does not lend itself to corrosion. Therefore, it can be cleaned monthly by boiling.
Do it like this:

Choose a metal container that is slightly larger than the wire rack.
Pour the solution there (I will describe the method of its preparation below).
Place the filter there, wait until it boils.
Keep on fire for another 1.5-2 hours.
If the grill does not fit completely, turn it over and repeat the manipulation.

After boiling, the fat and fumes will dissolve, the cells in the grate will be cleaned. You just need to rinse it under the tap. For best results, you can place the filter in a dishwasher or rub it with a soft brush.

Preparing a solution for cleaning the filter:

5 liters of water;
1/2 bar of household soap;
1/2 bottle of hydrogen peroxide, ammonia and liquid glass;
half tablespoon soda ash, salt, citric acid;
1/2 tablespoon vinegar, alcohol.

Stir the ingredients until small particles dissolve. After that, start boiling.Be prepared that a specific smell will be released in the process, so open the windows wide open. If not all components are at hand, increase the proportions of those available several times.

The exhaust filter is also cleaned by another method - Coca-Cola. Pour the soda into a saucepan with a wire rack and leave it alone for 3-4 hours. The liquid perfectly eats away fat.

Fan and motor

Necessary for the functioning of the hood and air exchange. If there is dirt on them, air with pathogens will begin to flow into the room, which will enter the respiratory system and food.

Cleansing step by step:

Read the instructions, it says where these parts are located and how to remove them. If it is lost, it can be found on the Internet.
Remove the fasteners, take out the fan and motor (built in together).
Disconnect one element from the other.
Pour 1 bar of laundry soap or detergent into the container. Place the fan in the liquid for 60 minutes.
Wipe the part to remove dirt residues.
Rinse and dry.

The motor must not be placed in water, it will stop working. It can be cleaned with soapy water, put a rag in it, do not touch the wires. In case of severe contamination, the part will have to be cleaned with more aggressive substances: VD-shkoy or a preparation for cleaning pipes. If you are afraid of breaking the motor, contact the service. The procedure costs money, but this way you can be sure that nothing will fail.

Install parts and connect the hood only after drying.

Features of air duct care

If the pipe is clogged, then clean air enters the room worse, odors do not go away.

There are 2 types of mines:

Rectangular or round plastic. Their parts are detached and removed. Disassemble the duct and wipe with soapy water. For greater efficiency, I recommend adding bleach, soda, citric acid. Rinse elements and dry.
Corrugated. They are made of aluminum, the price for them is cheap, but at the same time they better retain dirt particles. It is more difficult to wash, when immersed in water, it can become rusty. Therefore, such an air duct must be periodically changed.

If you do not want to buy a new corrugated exhaust duct, remove the contamination with a steam cleaner. It dissolves grease without causing corrosion. It can also remove dirt from other parts.

You can use the Mole to clean the exhaust shaft. Leave the product on for 20-30 minutes and wipe off with a damp cloth. Repeat as necessary. You need to work with gloves. Drain the dirt from the duct with clean rags by attaching an oilcloth to it and to the wall.

Cleaning the case

This is the outer part of the hood, if you clean it as soon as stains appear, there will be no problems. The case is easy to clean:

Prepare a solution of detergent, dampen a sponge in it.
Wipe the case with it.
Remove residue with a damp cloth.
Dry with a towel.

If, nevertheless, old dirt appears on the housing, use the following cleaning method:

Shut off the gas.
Treat pollution with Shumanite. If it is not possible to buy it, you can prepare the solution yourself from 1 tbsp. water, 100 ml of silicate glue, 3 tbsp. soda, 1/2 tablespoon washing powder.
When using improvised means, mix them thoroughly until a homogeneous mass is obtained.
Let the mixture soak into the stains for best results.
Wipe with a damp cloth.
Dry the body with a towel, leaving no streaks.

For cleaning, do not use hard sponges and scrapers, powders with coarse abrasive elements. They will leave scratches on the case.

Buttons and inner surface

Buy special products to cleanse this area. You can also use hydrogen peroxide, ammonia.

Use folk recipes as follows:

Apply to a cotton swab.
Wipe the dirt off.
Walk over the button with a cotton swab dipped in the substance.

Clean the inner surface with several means at once, one will not be enough.If there are glass inserts, grease drops must also be removed from them.
