Aluminum cookware begins to fade over time, stains appear. There is no need to rush to throw it away or take it to the dacha, you can quickly clean the aluminum dishes using improvised means. I will tell you about the most effective, fastest and cheapest.
Features of aluminum and utensils from it
Aluminum is used for the production of kitchen utensils because it is a fairly cheap and unpretentious material. In addition, products made from it are lightweight and comfortable.
Since it is an easily yielding material, susceptible to various contaminants, dark and rusty spots appear on it, it loses its natural shine, and may darken.
Nuances when cleaning aluminum dishes
Follow the recommendations when washing.
Before cleaning:
- wait until it cools completely, the material does not tolerate temperature changes;
- soak the product in soapy water, but no more than 10 minutes, otherwise stains will remain on it.
During and after cleaning:
- do not buy aggressive cleaners and sponges, only gentle ones. It is even better to buy means for crystal and porcelain (the price for them is quite high, but this will be justified by the result);
- rinse with water, preferably so that it is not hard (this can be achieved by installing filters);
- let dry naturally.
What I do not recommend taking for cleaning:
- hard brushes that leave scratches;
- chalk and paste with its content;
- sand (also leaves small scratches);
- bleach products that leave dark spots;
- cleaning powders with large abrasive elements (leave small scratches, remove natural shine);
- knife or sandpaper (to remove food debris, use a wooden spatula);
- dishwasher, frequent use will cause dark stains.
Detergents for washing aluminum dishes for various types of contamination
Store preparations clean the dishes well:
- Shumanit is a potent remedy;
- Amway - weaker and less effective than the previous one;
- Chister - will not help with severe pollution, but affordable.
Purchased drugs work well, but they may not always be at hand. Plus they cost money.
To save money, you can use folk methods. The methods below will help you get rid of all types of dirt. However, each of them is more effective in a specific situation.
Fat
Oily plaque is difficult to remove. It will not be possible to avoid it if the dishes are regularly used for cooking. However, it is quite possible to eliminate it:
- Place the dishes in a bowl of soapy water, beat in a thick lather. Do not touch for an hour, then wipe thoroughly with a rag or sponge.
- If greasy spots have formed inside the container, pour water into it, add lemon juice and vinegar in equal amounts. Place on the stove for a quarter of an hour. Cool, wipe with a sponge, rinse.
- To clean cutlery, pour water into a metal container and add citric acid. Place contaminated objects in it and set on fire for 10 minutes.
- Pour cold water into a saucepan and place over medium heat. Add 1 tbsp. baking soda (for 0.5 liters of liquid). Stir well until dissolved, boil for 20 minutes. The hotter the soda solution is, the better it will clean. Cool the dishes and rinse.
- You can remove the fat from the bottom with onions: peel 5 medium-sized onions and place in a saucepan. Pour 1 liter of water and boil for 30 minutes. After cooling, wash with detergent to avoid onion smell.
- Mix 3 tbsp. table salt with 1 tbsp. water. You should get a gruel. Wipe the dirty areas with it, wash with detergent.
- Rub the laundry soap into small shavings. Soak it in water and pour it into a bowl. Leave overnight, wipe and rinse.
- Soda is more effective than laundry soap.Pour in water and add the substance in a proportion of 1 tbsp. per liter. Boil and leave for an hour, wash.
Divorces
To restore shine will help:
- Lemon acid. In one liter of water, dilute 1 tsp. powder. Soak a container with stains in the resulting liquid for half an hour. Wipe and rinse.
- Lemon juice can replace acid. Squeeze liquid from one fruit into a container, add water. Cover with a lid and place on the stove for a quarter of an hour. Cool and rinse.
- Dentifrice. Mix with water until mushy. Rub and do not touch for 5-10 minutes. Wipe with a rag or sponge. Wash thoroughly under the tap.
- Pencil eraser. Rub the stains to a shine. If they are all over the crockery, it will take time to clean.
- White clay. Just wipe the surface with it and rinse the pan.
- Tartar or essence. For 1.5 liters of water, use 4-5 tablespoons. funds. Dissolve completely, bring to a boil and keep on fire for another quarter of an hour. Leave to cool for 1.5-2 hours.
Tarnishing, limescale
The most effective ways to get rid of:
- Ammonia. Wear protective gloves before using it. Apply detergent to a sponge and add a few drops of alcohol. Rub the dishes and leave it alone for 10 minutes.
- Cola. Pour the soda into a container. Leave it on for 2 hours, rinse.
- Vinegar. 1 tbsp is needed per liter of water. 9% liquid or 2 tbsp. 6%. Boil for 30 minutes, cool and wash with detergent. This method cleans and restores natural shine.
- Brine and fermented milk products. Mix liquid from pickles, yogurt and kefir. Soak a sponge in the mixture, wipe the dishes and leave for 2 hours. Wash so that there is no smell, rinse thoroughly.
- Apples. They help well with scale. Their pulp contains acid that eats away at it. Divide the fruit into 2 parts, cut the core and rub the surface.
If the scale or burn is old, boil the dishes with 150 g of silicate glue and 5 tbsp. soda for 3 liters of water. Then cool the container and rinse.
If there is dirt on the outside of the dish, it must be placed in a basin. When they are from the inner area, the solution is poured into the container itself.
How to clean an aluminum pan from blackness
- Take 2 scoops of mustard powder, baking soda, and vinegar, and mix together. Apply the formed paste to the darkened areas and leave for 20 minutes. Then rinse under running water.
- You can use cucumber pickle, sour milk. It is sufficient to leave the pan in one of these liquids overnight. Then rinse in the morning.
There are also several ways from dark bloom and blackness inside the dishes:
- Boil sorrel leaves in it for 30 minutes, under a closed lid. Then rinse.
- Sorrel can be replaced with citric acid. If you put 1 or 2 packages into water, boil for 15-30 minutes, depending on the pollution, then the blackness will disappear.
Proper care of aluminum cookware
The recommendations that I will give you below will help preserve the original appearance of aluminum cookware for a long time, save you time when cleaning it:
- After purchasing new dishes, boil them in salted water. Thanks to this, aluminum will acquire the required hardness factor, fat and food debris will stick less.
- To prevent pots, pans, cutlery from deteriorating, wash them with a means for crystal and porcelain with the addition of ammonia.
- Clean the dishes with tooth powder once every 1-2 weeks. Apply it to a rag and wipe the surface.
- Do not cook in products every day, they are not designed for this. Otherwise, dark spots will appear.
- Do not store ready-made food. This leads to the formation of black or brown spots. In addition, food acquires an unpleasant smell and a specific taste.
- Do not ferment or salt anything in it, do not cook jam, etc.
- Aluminum burns out quickly because such cookware does not have a non-stick coating. Therefore, when cooking, do not use a high heat, stir the contents regularly and do not leave unattended so that the food does not burn.
