- the first - the respirator has a rubberized front part, which ensures its excellent fit and excludes the penetration of contaminated, untreated air through the edges of the respirator;
- the second - the respirator has a large-capacity carbon filter that effectively protects the worker from vapors hazardous to his body.
When using a disposable face shield, it is useful to know that its capacity depends on how many filter layers the protective article consists of.
Therefore, it is recommended to choose a mask with the maximum number of filter layers, which has a carbon filter and an exhalation valve. But with constant and long-term work in spray booths, it is advisable to use a respirator for protection.
Glasses are not the most necessary piece of workwear for working in a spray booth. More often, impact-resistant glasses are used by other car service workers, for example, tinsmiths.
However, in some cases they are necessary and therefore included in the workwear set. Goggles should be made of high-quality impact-resistant plastic that is resistant to abrasion.
The goggles should fit as tightly as possible to the worker's face and have special ventilation holes, which prevents them from fogging.
Respirator selection criteria
Before starting work, special attention must be paid to the choice of a respirator, on which the worker's health directly depends. The main element of this protective device is a built-in special filter that retains all toxic substances and prevents them from entering the respiratory tract.
The quality and reliability of a respirator directly depends on the price range and the type of filter element.
The purchased product must have all permissive documents, quality certificates, as well as detailed instructions from the manufacturer on the rules for its operation. Given the wide range of these products, experts recommend choosing respirators in strict accordance with the types of painting work, as well as with the shape of the face. Do not use a device whose materials may provoke an allergic reaction.
The efficiency of using a reusable device directly depends on the timeliness of its maintenance. Experts recommend replacing the filter after each painting stage, and thoroughly wipe all internal elements before installing it.
Painting coveralls: disposable and reusable
Overalls for spray booths should cover most of the worker's body for maximum protection from hazards. The most optimal type of clothing for this is a jumpsuit. Various fabrics are used to make overalls. It can be cotton or polyester fabric with carbon filaments that provide anti-static properties to the material.
Continuous textured polyester threads woven into the fabric make the material dense and durable, which allows it to keep in its structure all the dirt emitted by humans, small particles, debris, etc. Modern protective overalls are also made from viscose and nylon.
A feature of overalls, in addition to protecting parts of the worker's body, is also an antistatic effect and the absence of pile in the structure of the material. This means that the worker will not bring small debris, lint, etc. into the spray booth on his clothes.
All protective overalls are divided into two types - reusable and disposable products. Reusable overalls are preferable, since they are made of durable material and do not tear and wear out as quickly as disposable ones. The fabric from which reusable overalls are made is resistant to repeated cleaning and washing, as well as sterilization or disinfection.
In addition, in reusable protective suits, the worker feels much more comfortable, which means that he does his job better. They are most often made of nylon reinforced with carbon yarn or polyester fabric and have the following advantages:
- strength and tear resistance;
- easy care and cleaning from paint (the overalls are placed in a solvent and dried);
- do not melt when exposed to sufficiently high temperatures;
- easy to put on and take off, thanks to the zipper sewn along the length of the product;
- provide effective protection against water, dust, solvents and paints;
- comfortable to wear, provide freedom of movement and air circulation inside the product.
Additional comfort during work and protection from hazardous substances are provided by elastic bands sewn in several places of the overalls - at the waist level, on the wrists, on the ankles. A comfortable hood is provided to protect the operator's head.
Features of material for workwear
Overalls for painting are made of lint-free materials. This is to prevent toxic substances from entering the environment from the sterile chamber. Many modern paints are made from environmentally friendly products, for example, powder products, but their use is possible only in private services due to the complexity of the polymerization process.
Coating with an ordinary paint and varnish substance does without heat chambers and is quite feasible at home. There are certain rules for each item of clothing:
Clothes to be dyed must comply with the general requirements of state standards. In most cases, nylon and viscose are used with the addition of polymers. Filament polyester fabrics with carbon threads are relevant. Such a composition provides a complete absence of a static effect and protection from the ingress of chemical solutions on the skin. The shape of the jumpsuit is the same, completely covering the legs, body and arms (up to the wrists), as well as the head (except for the face). A tight hood is wrapped around the head, preventing paint from getting on the hair and vice versa.

Rubber products are practically incapable of protecting the skin from chemicals, therefore, their use in the field of painting is not recommended.
Shoes are made of high quality leather, with special attention to the toe. The front of the shoes should be harder to avoid injury to the painter when heavy objects hit the leg and the formation of burns from acid solutions.
