First start-up and running-in
The first launch is the key to long-term and uninterrupted operation of Varyag brand walk-behind tractors. Initially, it is necessary to assemble the machine according to the sequence given in the instruction manual.
After that, the motor runs in period. At this time, you cannot use the walk-behind tractor for heavy work or maximum power.
The run-in should take about 8 hours. During this period, you can drive with an empty trailer, or till the soil at a minimum immersion level. During this time, the motor parts will be lubricated and begin to work as a single mechanism. Change the engine oil after completing this process.
Service
Motoblocks Varyag are distinguished by their unpretentiousness in terms of maintenance. Many owners simply change their engine oil according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
Before starting operation, it is necessary to inspect the walk-behind tractor so that there is no unnatural arrangement of parts, the serviceability of the electrical wiring and the absence of oil leaks from the structural units.
- The engine oil must be changed every 25 hours of operation. To do this, drain the mining and fill in a new lubricant with a classification of 10W-40.
- Transmission oil should be changed twice a year: in spring and autumn, or after a run of 100 hours. It is recommended to pour Tap-15V or Tad-17i into this unit.
- Gearbox shift levers should be periodically lubricated with Solidol or Litol-24 to ensure smooth shifting.
Repair of basic faults
Owners of Varyag walk-behind tractors note the availability of spare parts for these machines and their maintainability. Most faults can be corrected on their own in a short period of time.
If the engine does not start:
- It is necessary to check the serviceability of the entire ignition system and the presence of a spark (if necessary, clean or replace the spark plugs, check the terminal connections);
- Make sure there is a sufficient amount of fuel and oil (if there is a shortage of them, the engine will not start);
- Inspect fuel and air filters (with prolonged use, they can become clogged with dirt, clean or replace them);
- Adjust the fuel mixture in the carburetor.
If the engine is jerky:
- Make sure the availability and quality of fuel (moisture may get in, it must be drained and refilled);
- Check the spark supply (clean the spark plug and fix the terminals securely);
- Clean air and fuel filters.

Peculiarities
Motoblocks "Varyag" are produced in China, but for the last twenty years their official suppliers have been in Russia. All machines from this manufacturer have the same standard equipment. The assembly of walk-behind tractors is characterized by high quality parts and functioning. Aggregates "Varyag" are composed of the following elements.
- Carrying frame. It consists of a steel corner, which is treated with an anti-corrosion coating. The frame is characterized by strength, therefore it is able to withstand weights and additional sheds, and a trailer weighing up to 600 kilograms is no exception.
- Power plant. The motoblocks are equipped with four-stroke gasoline engines, the sleeves of which are located vertically.
- Chassis. The semiaxis is manufactured from steel hexagons. Pneumatic wheels 4 × 10 are attached to it, as well as cutters and ground hooks, which have a diameter of 35 to 70 centimeters. Thanks to the ground clearance, the equipment has the ability to move around areas with difficult terrain.
- Controls, which include the steering system, which has rods, gas levers, gear switches. Thanks to the transmission, the mini-tractor can be moved at two speeds. The steering wheel can be adjusted both in height and in width.
Coulter and adapter. These elements contribute to the possibility of attaching additional units to the walk-behind tractor, without using an adapter. The coulters are height adjustable, which can facilitate deeper cultivation.
Motoblocks "Varyag" are sold assembled and are completely ready for use.
Before going to the counter, the technician is tested to control the correct assembly and installation of each unit, as well as the mechanism.
Attachments
By themselves, the Kubanets walk-behind tractors are not functional. Their widespread use in rural areas is dictated by a large selection of attachments that can automate basic agricultural work. Below is an overview of each hitch in more detail.
Cutters
One of the basic characteristics of the Kubanets walk-behind tractor is the processing width with cutters and their immersion depth. This attachment allows you to mix the topsoil, thereby increasing soil fertility and the resulting yield.
A set of cutters is included with many Kubanets walk-behind tractors.
Plows
An alternative milling cutter is the plow.It has a similar field of application, but it is more used when working with virgin lands, when the surface is harder, there is simply no way for cutters to enter the ground and they constantly jump over the ground surface.
Mowers
Motoblocks Kubanets can help in harvesting weeds during their violent growth or preparing virgin lands for plowing.
The manufacturer offers its customers rotary versions of mowers. This is the most popular modification. Rotary mowers cut the grass thanks to the blades that rotate.
Motoblocks Kubanets, together with these attachments, are often used by public utilities to control the level of grass in parks and lawns, as well as by rural residents in order to harvest hay for the winter.
Potato diggers and potato planters
Potatoes are a very popular crop in our country. However, the work on planting and digging it requires large physical costs. Motoblocks Kubanets can ease them with the help of potato diggers and potato planters.
Snow blower and shovel blade
When winter comes, many owners of Kubanets walk-behind tractors put their device in the garage before the start of sowing work. But in vain, because these machines can help in snow removal. This is especially true for the residents of the village, where there is no hope that the utilities will clean everything up in the morning, but it is necessary to roll up our sleeves and put things in order ourselves.
Snow blowers allow you to pick up a layer of snow and throw it over a long distance (from 7 meters). With a small amount of precipitation, you can use a shovel blade, which throws snow nearby.
Thanks to the Kubanets walk-behind tractors and snow plow attachments, you can easily clear the garage exit, parking lot or sidewalk paths.
Adapter and trailers
Many Kubanets walk-behind tractors are powerful and are designed for use in areas of 20 hectare or more. This is an absolute plus. However, there is a fly in the ointment in this barrel of honey. You have to walk behind the walk-behind tractor, and even direct it to the device. And this requires a lot of physical effort. To ease the burden on the owner, adapters were invented. These are special attachments with a seat, thanks to which you can control the Kubanets walk-behind tractor while sitting.
If you need to transport goods over a long distance, then you should purchase an additional trailer. The manufacturer offers tipper options to its customers. These trailers are very easy to use and facilitate the unloading process.
Simply raise the front of the trailer. The maximum carrying capacity directly depends on the power of the Kubanets walk-behind tractor. The higher it is, the more he can carry.
Wheels, lugs and tracks
A set of pneumatic wheels comes with the Kubanets walk-behind tractor as standard. Thanks to them, you can deliver the device to the site of operation and carry out work with additional attachments. Motoblocks Kubanets have high quality tires, which allows you to work even on sticky soils.
If you have a small model, then when transporting goods or working with solid soil, the walk-behind tractor simply starts to slip and does not perform the necessary task. To fix this, you can simply install the lugs. They will allow the device to move more smoothly.
When driving on snow or ice, traction is minimal, so neither lugs nor standard tires will help here.
In such situations, the manufacturer of motoblocks Kubanets recommends installing a track attachment. It will increase the area of contact with the surface. And it will give an all-terrain device.
Weights
If you feel that your walk-behind tractor is lacking only a little power, then try increasing traction with the additional weight.
Hitch
A huge advantage of Kubanets motoblocks is a universal coupling, which allows you to use attachments from other manufacturers.
How to start a walk-behind tractor in winter
The rules developed by suppliers so that walk-behind tractors can be started at any time of the year provide for certain mandatory actions on the part of the equipment owner.
First of all, you should prepare the device for launch. To do this, it is necessary to fill in oil and fuel (gasoline or diesel, depending on the model). Also, read the instructions carefully, as they provide information on whether and in what quantity to dilute the fuel with oil for the winter.
Also on many Internet resources you can watch a video on how to start a particular cultivator model.

Selection Tips
The walk-behind tractor helps to facilitate work in the garden and personal plot
The purchase of this equipment is carried out for many years, so it is very important to make the right choice.
First of all, you should pay attention to the power of the machine, because it is this characteristic that makes it possible to process the site. If the soil is characterized by hardness, then it is worth giving preference to a more powerful unit.
It is also worth remembering that the more powerful the mini-tractor, the more fuel it needs, so if a small black soil area is to be processed, then there is no need for powerful equipment.
Another important selection criterion is the type of fuel used. Gasoline engines offer advantages such as quiet operation and ease of starting. Gasoline-powered motoblocks are considered suitable options for summer cottages and small areas. It is worth stopping the choice on a diesel machine if you need to work on a large area. This type of engine is recognized as more wear-resistant and reliable.
The weight of the walk-behind tractor is the indicator that must also be taken into account when buying equipment. Light motoblocks are not a suitable option for difficult types of soil, in such cases, heavy equipment should be preferred.
You should not ignore the width of the cutters so that the work of the walk-behind tractor does not cause trouble. To become the owner of an inexpensive and reliable walk-behind tractor, you should pay attention to a machine with low power and cutters, which are ideal for planned work.
Varieties
"Varyag" offers the consumer a wide range of vehicles, which can be both diesel and gasoline. Each walk-behind tractor is characterized by high strength, reliability and unpretentiousness, but there are also characteristics by which the models differ from each other. The most popular models of motoblocks from the manufacturer "Varyag" are as follows.
"MB-701" is the best representative of the middle class with high functionality characteristics. Often, with the help of such a machine, hilling, work with soil hooks, cargo transportation and much more are performed.

The equipment has an excellent working width, and can also transport a load that weighs half a ton.
- "MB-801" operates on gasoline, giving out 8 liters. with. With this engine power, the car is able to consume a little fuel. Maneuverability is carried out due to the special design and large wheels, so the equipment travels through the most neglected areas. The car has a reverse, belt clutch and chain drive type. Together with the mini-tractor, the user purchases mud flaps, pneumatic wheels, a bumper, projection fenders, an extension.The frame "MB-801" is made from corners with a reinforced plan, which are treated with an anti-corrosion coating. This element of the walk-behind tractor is powerful, therefore, in its capabilities, it has the ability to withstand the weight of about 600 kilograms.
- "MB-903". This model from the manufacturer "Varyag" is equipped with a reliable diesel engine with a capacity of 6 liters. with. Thanks to the operation on diesel fuel, the machine is able to function for a long time. The available three working speeds make it easy to work with. The starter is started both mechanically and electrically. With proper installation of attachments, the mini-tractor of this model is capable of transporting a load that weighs 550 kilograms. Milling cutters for a walk-behind tractor are included in the equipment kit. Overheating is not typical for this unit, since it is cooled by air.
- "MB-905" is a diesel multifunctional high power unit. It is designed to perform a wide variety of tasks. The device of the battery in the "MB-905" made it a silent motor resource. The technique is distinguished by good cross-country ability and performance.
Operation and maintenance
For a long and uninterrupted operation of the walk-behind tractor, a very important stage is its first run-in, which lasts at least eight hours. The technique must be assembled strictly according to the instructions. You can put the generator, guided by a certain scheme. If the work is not carried out correctly and the black carburetor plug is not installed correctly, the winding may catch fire.
When installing the generator, it is worth using two blue wires that connect to the converter. The red wire is required for feeding and charging. When the engine is first running in, do not carry out heavy work at maximum power. At the end of the process, it is necessary to change the oil.
Motoblocks are quite unpretentious in terms of maintenance. The main thing to remember is the timely change of the engine oil, as the manufacturer advises. Before starting work, the walk-behind tractor must be carefully inspected, the serviceability of parts and wiring must be monitored. Also, do not forget about lubricating the shift levers with Salidol or Litola-24.
Many malfunctions of Varyag walk-behind tractors can be corrected independently. For example, if there are malfunctions in starting the engine, then you should check the ignition, the presence of a spark, make sure that the volume of fuel is sufficient for the normal functioning of the machine, and also check the cleanliness of the filters. The problem of jerky engine operation can be hidden in the absence or poor quality of fuel, dirty filters or the lack of spark supply.
3rd method: by installing additional gaskets (changing the gasket)
If the previous methods of transferring the walk-behind tractor to 92 gasoline seem too laborious, you can limit yourself to simpler ones. The first of them is based on the fact that the cylinder head is reinforced with 3 additional gaskets at once. The middle one will remove excess heat. Ideally, if you have a silumin or another light-alloy material at hand.
All of them must be commensurate with each other.
It is important to calculate the thickness of the middle spacer.
To do this, use the formula (all in mm):
Vsr = 4mm - (Vv + Vn) + 0.7mm (shrinkage factor), where:
Вв - height of the upper gasket;
VN - lower.
Valve pushers that were on the old MTZ-05 or MTZ-12 walk-behind tractor may remain old. Only their rods can be replaced (they are needed shorter than in the design for 80 gasoline).
The second is the usual replacement of the gasket between the cylinder and the cylinder head. Established ones are replaced with more resistant ones, for example, from paranita.
As you can see, after minor modifications, the walk-behind tractor can operate stably on high-octane gasoline.

2 Diesel walk-behind tractors
The main advantage of diesel motoblocks is that they have a large motor resource. This contributes to a longer service life of such equipment. To reduce the risk of breakdowns, the diesel unit is first run in. In this case, not all of the engine power is used. It is recommended to turn it on at full strength only after all the elements of the unit are in operation.
2.1 Varyag MB-903
Motoblock Varyag-903 has a Kama engine (diesel, power 6 hp). This is an excellent unit with a cast iron sleeve and good power performance. The engine is quite economical and can withstand the load at low speeds.
Due to its weight, the machine is much easier to work with than, for example, a cultivator. With the help of attachments, you can do almost all the work on the farm: transporting goods using a trailer, harvesting hay using a rotary mower and the whole range of works on the land.
Varyag MB-903
Specifications:
- engine type - diesel;
- engine brand - KAMA 178 F;
- maximum processing width - 0 cm;
- speed - 2 forward / 1 back;
- starting system - mechanical starter and electric starter.
2.2 Advantages of diesel motoblocks
If we compare a diesel engine and a gasoline engine with the same volume, then a diesel engine consumes much less fuel. When using diesel fuel, the torque is significantly higher. The motor in such a unit weighs more than a gasoline one, which means that the grip on the ground will be much better. The engine of the diesel unit is durable and reliable, so it will last twice as long. The power of the walk-behind tractor is high (up to 12 hp) and it develops a speed of up to 20 km per hour.
2.3 Disadvantages
The main disadvantage of this technique is its high cost. Even if you buy a used unit, its cost will still remain considerable. This is due to the high cost of the diesel engine itself.
Assembling cutters on a walk-behind tractor
With such a large weight, the maneuverability of the machine is reduced. When working in winter or in cold weather, additional costs for special fuel will be required. During operation, the walk-behind tractor vibrates very much and makes a loud noise.
Diesel walk-behind tractors have more advantages than disadvantages. For example, vibration and noise are not such disadvantages. After all, the important thing is how the machine does its job and how durable it is.
Operation and maintenance
New owners of a Krotoff walk-behind tractor must definitely study the operating instructions.It contains the main data from the manufacturer regarding the characteristics of the device, its device, the assembly and running-in sequence, the nuances of operation and the schedule for preventive maintenance.
This video review presents the process of assembling factory cutters:
Running in
Before using it, be sure to read the user manual. After assembling the Krotof walk-behind tractor, be sure to fill up with fuel and gasoline. Many owners forget about this and immediately hear a strange noise from the engine.
After that, it is necessary to run in. This procedure allows the engine parts to clearly fit into the desired grooves and rub against each other, since small errors are necessarily present in the factory assembly.
According to the user manual, the break-in should take place within 5 operating hours.
At this time, it is necessary to use a walk-behind tractor at low speeds and with minimal loads. Ideal break-in is considered to be driving with an empty trailer or plowing at a minimum depth of soft soil.
Butter
In order for the Krotoff walk-behind tractor to serve as long as possible, it is necessary to carry out preventive work in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
- The engine oil should be changed every 25 hours of device operation. The instruction manual recommends using 10W-40 or 10W-30.
- The transmission oil should be changed less frequently, after 100 hours of operation. Tad-17i or Tap-15v are considered ideal replacement options.
- Control levers should be periodically treated with water resistant lubricants to reduce friction and prevent rust and seizure. Motoblock Krotoff is unpretentious in this regard and you can use Litol-24 or Solidol.
- For gasoline models, it is necessary to use high-octane AI-92 fuel.
Major malfunctions
Every owner of Krotof walk-behind tractors should know how to troubleshoot basic faults.
If the engine does not start:
- Check the presence of fuel in the tank;
- The gas tap may have closed by accident;
- Dirt and dust may have entered the fuel system;
- Check the condition of the spark plugs and the fastening of the terminals to them;
- Check if gasoline is leaking from the carburetor;
- Perhaps the choke in the carburetor will sink.
If there are malfunctions in the ignition system, then the following are the main reasons:
- Carbon deposits have formed on the candles;
- Wrong candle gap set;
- Stop button sinks;
- The spark plug tip has become unusable;
- The gap between the starter and the shoes has changed, as a result of which the spark does not reach.
The following video overview shows the sequence for starting the engine correctly:
