Types of sanding bases

It is a cylindrical shank design. A tape of sandpaper is attached to the cylinder, the ends of which are glued or free. The sanding material is not positioned vertically, but parallel to the rotation.

Various types of tensioners are used to tightly connect the sandpaper to the drum. For tape with glued ends, a method of increasing the cylinder diameter is used, and for tape with free ends, a special mechanism. For endless abrasive belts, two tensioning methods are used. The pneumatic drums are pumped up and the individual rubber elements are compressed axially. Open tapes are attached in different ways. The most common way is to tighten the ends with a rotating screw.

For work with an emery tape with glued ends, it is possible to make a drum yourself. It consists of several wooden discs, between which thick rubber gaskets are placed. Everything is fastened with a screw. The sanding paper is pulled over the drum and the nut is tightened on the screw. It compresses the discs with rubber between them, which, moving apart, securely fixes the sandpaper.

Materials for car body processing

To carry out the car processing procedure, the following materials are needed:

  • foam rubber;
  • sandpaper;
  • grinding composition;
  • bike;
  • polish.

The agent with which the surface of the body will be processed must be carefully selected. A paste with abrasive particles is needed to remove the top layer of varnish. It must be selected depending on the type of cracks and chips present on the body. A product with a large number of particles is necessary if the defects are very noticeable. Now on sale a large assortment of drugs that add brightness to the color.

The protective coating of a new car may acquire cloudy streaks. In such a situation, a reducing paste containing a grinding additive will suffice.
