What could be more pleasant than the soothing murmur of flowing water. Not a single garden, be it our Peterhof or the French Versailles, is complete without fountains. So why don't we create this corner of paradise in our garden? I bring to your attention five of the best home-made fountains that you can definitely make with your own hands, and, most importantly, it won't take much time.
Simple fountain with a bowl
The easiest version of a homemade fountain. We take a large pot, a ceramic one will look the most beautiful, but you can also use a plastic one, and insert an inexpensive fountain pump there. You can buy it for 1000 rubles, but there are also more expensive options (2-3 thousand). Then we fill the container with water and connect the pump.
You can place your creation on the veranda or in your favorite garden, surrounded by beautiful flowers. Now nothing prevents you from relaxing under the soothing sound of running water, right?
Bamboo fountain
This traditional bamboo fountain is commonly used in Japanese gardens. When the bamboo tube is filled with water to a certain level, it topples over and hits the stone base, making an interesting knock.
It turns out that this fountain is needed in order to drive the deer away, who would have thought). Of course, we will hardly need to get rid of animals in our garden, but it is definitely possible to create a similar Japanese corner there.
What you need:
- 4 bamboo trunks (diameter from 2 to 6 cm);
- Leg-split;
- Water pump (low power);
- Screwdriver.
- Crushed stone;
- The base of the fountain (stone or ceramic bowl or even a plastic pot).
Manufacturing instruction:
- First, we think over the place where we want to install our future fountain. It is important that the wire is long enough to reach the outlet.
- We have a pump at the base for our fountain. We bring the cable out. Ideally, the wire should be hidden in a corrugated pipe, and, in turn, dug a few centimeters into the ground. Only the main thing is not to forget where this wire runs, so that inadvertently, when planting next flowers, it does not damage it.
- We fill the pump with rubble so that it is not visible.
- Since the construction is quite simple, we will not describe it in detail. Everyone can do something of their own. Below in the pictures you see several options. According to the latter, it is best to understand exactly how our fountain works.
Vintage watering can
At first glance, this fountain looks like pure magic ... but take a closer look! Although a vintage watering can seems to keep water flowing endlessly into an old basin, in fact it is constantly “fed” with water by a transparent hose. Great alternative to the stiff tube that normally comes out of the pump, isn't it?
So, we just have to direct the water from the hose into the watering can in a convenient way (for example, by drilling a small hole in it).
And you can also enhance the "magical" effect by hiding the hose in the crown of trees, from there it will be very effective to pour water into a watering can or simply into a basin.
Ground fountain
Do you have children or pets and don't want to worry about any of them getting into your fountain? Then make a real home geyser! No puddles, just make a rocky "foundation". Our pump is in the ground under stones. It seems to be not difficult, right?
But, the main secret is how to decorate our water tank with stones. This can be easily solved if you buy a metal grate, with which you first cover the container with water, and then lay it with stones.
It may seem that it is difficult to make such constructions, but, believe me, it is not. Anyone with a minimal set of tools and experience can quickly master the creation of any of these fountains.
