The pond in the country is very beautiful, and you can't argue with that. But getting pleasure from him is still a hassle, because he turns green all the time. Water "blooms" - this is what this phenomenon is called. The reason lies in the blue-green algae, which reproduce very actively in the sun and air. But the speed with which these microorganisms develop directly depends on many factors:
- sunlight;
- air;
- garbage (especially of organic origin: grass, dust, foliage and other debris);
- poor water filtration or no filter at all.
Not only a change in the color of the water may indicate that microorganisms have started up in it. Such a signal will be foam on the water, mucus on the walls.
Flowering prevention methods
Of course, first of all, mechanical cleaning, frequent change of the entire volume of water. But if the pond is large, then this is a very tedious procedure and often impossible without specialists and equipment.
Therefore, the best solution would be to install filters with a capacity corresponding to the size of the pond. You can use bleach if no one lives there, including plants.
Another factor that inhibits the growth of algae will be the control of the acid-base balance of the water. An increased alkaline composition promotes the reproduction of microorganisms, but an acidic one can harm the pond itself and its equipment. Therefore, it is necessary to control the PH-level within 7-7.4 units.
Bloom control methods
But now the water bloomed, acquired a greenish or brown hue instead of the desired blue-blue. Now there is nothing left but to try to clean the pond yourself.
- Drain off all the water.
- Treat the container with detergents and disinfectants using brushes and special tools.
- Rinse off the detergents well by draining out the water completely.
- Fill with fresh water.
In the future, be sure to use filtration, timely cleaning from large debris.
