Varieties and types
The most common type of hyacintoides is Spanish. Seeds are often sold as a mix (different shades and varieties). The flower is widespread in Spain, Portugal, found in the south of France and in other regions of southern Europe.
Its features:
- narrow or wide leaves up to 30 cm long, located near the root;
- up to 7 sheets from one onion;
- single peduncle;
- bell-shaped flowers up to 2-2.5 cm in diameter, gather in an erect group of 4-10 buds;
- lives in one place up to 5-6 years;
- the fruit is a box with round seeds;
- begins to bloom at the end of May or a little later, pleases gardeners for up to 20-25 days with bright buds.
The most common varieties are pale blue, purple and pink.
Undescribed hyacintoides is a type of plant that is characterized by drooping, one-sided buds. In horticulture, mainly plant hybrids are used (there are more than 40 of them).
They differ from each other in color, size and shape of petals, there are both bell-shaped and inverted, similar to daisies.
Hyacintoides hybrid varieties
Hyacintoides Hispanica Rose has large bell-shaped flowers of intense pink shade with white tints. It grows low - up to 20 cm.
Hyacintoides White Triumphator is a charming flower with yellow stamens and snow-white petals. Large, open bells often form lush armfuls of buds. Fits perfectly into a flower bed with other varieties.
Hyacintoides Pink is a delicate flower with medium-sized pink and white bells. It goes well with blue varieties. Forms a lush cloud, grows up to 30 cm. Possesses a pronounced floral aroma.
Hyacintoides Hispanica Indigo Blue is a beautiful flower with lilac-blue buds. Dark, rich leaves creep along the ground, forming a very dense planting. Peduncles are high, powerful.
Hyacintoides Excelsior is a cultivar with glossy, broad leaves that create a green cushion on the ground. Peduncles are powerful, but not tall. Large and bright buds are located on them. Combines with similar flowers and other plants. Looks good in the center of the flower bed.
Hyacintoides Dainty Maid are large, beautiful pink flowers. A very massive plant that catches the eye when planted singly or in groups.
Hyacintoides Lingulata is another variety with open buds of a delicate white-lilac color. The stamens are yellow or blue with blue tips. The plant has a powerful light green stem.
Hyacintoides Reverchonii is a bright flower with lilac or blue buds and erect green leaves. Grows short.
There are mixtures of different varieties on sale. Their chaotic planting can be a great option for landscaping.
