Hybrid tea roses: characteristics of varieties

Planting a rose

This variety of hybrid tea roses requires compliance with certain growing conditions - it is recommended to choose a suitable site for the bush and observe the planting time.

Optimal timing

The optimal time for planting is May-June, when the soil has already warmed up to + 12 ° С. The main thing is to have time to plant the plants before the onset of extreme heat. This will help the seedlings to take root in a new place faster and more successfully.

In addition, the selected seedlings must be grafted.

Site requirements

The place for planting should be chosen especially carefully, since such flowers do not tolerate direct sunlight, but they also do not withstand the shade.

Roses of the Marusya variety also do not tolerate winds, especially if they are northern. That is why it is worth choosing a place on the site, sheltered from drafts.

It is convenient to place rose bushes near tall bushes or buildings. Neighborhood with plants such as rowan, raspberry, pear and cherry is undesirable.

Preparation of soil and seedlings

The soil should be slightly acidic, well fertilized and loose. At the end of autumn, the soil must be fertilized. It is better to add humus or cow dung to the ground.

When choosing seedlings in the nursery, you need to pay attention to the following points:

  • the absence of too long and pale shoots that can be sick;
  • the roots should be well branched and well developed;
  • the stems should be green, strong and ripe;
  • the kidneys should be at rest;
  • the seedling should have 2 or more stems with a diameter of about 7 mm.

Marusya rose seedlings must be prepared in early March. Before that, they are stored in a cool room, in damp sand or soil. This planting material is quietly waiting for disembarkation in open ground.

The roots of the seedling must be cut a little. Then the seedlings are placed in water for 2 hours, they should be thoroughly saturated with moisture.

We plant in open ground

The hole should be so deep that the roots of the plant do not bend when placed in it. This is approximately 50-60 cm.

Landing is carried out according to the following scheme:

  1. The pit is half filled with a mixture of sand, organic fertilizers and garden soil, all components are taken in equal amounts.
  2. It is necessary to water the dry soil with two liters of water.
  3. The seedling is lowered into a hole, covered with soil.
  4. The graft site (noticeable thickening on the seedling) must be buried 2-3 cm into the ground.
  5. The soil around the plant is compacted, an embankment is built from the ground, so that during irrigation water flows to the roots.

At the end of planting, you need to spud the plant, so the lower buds can be protected from weather surprises.

Features of growing white roses Anastasia

In order for our heroine to quickly start to grow and bloom, you should study the planting rules.

Boarding time

In central Russia, spring planting is preferable - in April or May. But in the southern regions, it is more advisable to plant in the fall - until the end of October.

Place, ground

The best place for Anastasia is an open, well-lit and moderately ventilated area. The soil should be nutritious and loose, with a neutral acidity level. In the southern regions, where the activity of the sun is high, the plant in the midday period will be more comfortable under diffused penumbra.

Areas are categorically not suitable:

  • with high humidity;
  • with heavy clay soil;
  • located in dense shade, such as under large trees.

Features of planting and transplanting

During planting, the grafting site must be deepened 3-5 cm relative to the soil level. The procedure is best done in the afternoon, when the spring sun cannot harm the seedling. Anastasia rose should be planted in moist soil, the temperature of which has reached 12-15 ° C.If the soil temperature exceeds 25 ° C, then the planting or transplanting should be canceled.

Reproduction

Our heroine, like the rest of the hybrid tea varieties, reproduces perfectly with the help of cuttings.

Anastasia roses are cut in the usual way for the hybrid tea group.

Brief botanical description

The flawless buds of Marusya open slowly and evenly, presenting wonderful large (10-12 cm), densely double (55 petals, rarely up to 80), snow-white flowers of cold tones. The buds look spectacular thanks to the greenish tint of the petal, which is especially noticeable on the outside of the flower.

The upright bushes, reaching a height of 100 cm, are framed by dark emerald green foliage and have a moderate number of thorns. The flowers of Marusya thin out the delicate, subtle aroma.

This rose stands out among the many white-flowered varieties due to the shape of the bud and flower with perfect lines. Although this variety was originally bred for the production of cut products, thanks to its good resistance to disease and frost, excellent decorative qualities and excellent flowering, Maroussia will be a worthy decoration of the garden.

Like any rose bred for cut cultivation, it is characterized not only by abundant flowering, but also by a long period of life of a single flower.

Maroussia was bred by Schreurs (Netherlands) in 2009.

The main characteristics of the variety are presented in the table below.

Planting seedlings in the open field

The growth of a shrub and the formation of more buds on it directly depend on the time of planting the crop in open ground, on the choice of a suitable place in the garden, as well as on the composition of the soil from which the plant will receive nutrients.

Timing

Planting roses "Flamentant" can be done both in spring and in autumn.

Each season has its own nuances:

  • autumn planting is performed while it is still warm (late September - early October), so that the root system of the culture has time to take root before severe frosts; in the spring, such a plant will quickly enter into active vegetation, and at the beginning of summer the bush will bloom with lush flowering;
  • when planting a "flamentant" rose in spring (late April - early May), you need to wait for the established warm weather, in which the soil warms up to + 10 ... + 12 ° C; at the same time, the buds on the rose should not yet bloom.

Seat selection

When choosing a place suitable for planting, they are guided by the following rules:

  • you need to find an area on the site that is well illuminated by the sun for 5-7 hours a day (sufficient illumination has a good effect on the number and size of flowers) and protected from the wind (the culture does not tolerate drafts);
  • the soil for planting a rose should be sandy loam, with the addition of humus (for good growth of plant stems);
  • on the site, it is imperative to ensure the removal of excess moisture that accumulates during rains.

Step-by-step planting process

Before planting, the lashes and part of the roots are cut off from the seedlings of roses, leaving cuttings of 25-30 cm (the cuts of the roots are treated with ash, and the shoots with garden pitch). Then the seedlings are kept in water for a couple of hours to accelerate survival.

The process of planting rose bushes is as follows:

  1. The soil in the selected area is dug to the depth of the shovel bayonet.
  2. Break holes (50 × 50 cm) at a distance of 1 m from each other, pour abundantly with water and allow it to be absorbed.
  3. At the bottom of each hole, a drainage layer of 25 cm is poured (pebbles or crushed brick).
  4. A substrate consisting of clay (5 kg) and manure (2.5 kg) is placed on top of the drainage, adding 2 tablets of phosphorobacterin to the mixture (a preparation with bacterial spores that help plants to assimilate organophosphorus compounds).
  5. Place the stalk in the hole, sprinkle it with soil on top and tamp it.
  6. The planted bushes are watered, a layer of mulch (sawdust, peat) is poured under them to keep moisture longer.

The main features of the Verano variety

The bushes of this variety are quite tall - up to 1 m, spreading, but not very branched. The stems are densely covered with thorns. Most often, one bud grows on the stems. These roses bloom actively and amicably, and the flowering time of each bud is long not only on the bush, but also in the water after cutting.

Shiny emerald-colored foliage perfectly sets off these vibrant flowers. But it should be remembered that a rose on each branch should have no more than 5 leaves. A large amount of foliage indicates that the rose is beginning to degenerate into a rose hip. Therefore, all wilds with 6 or more leaves should be removed immediately.

Distinctive qualities of the Verano variety are its fairly high winter hardiness, as well as resistance to the main disease of flowering shrubs - powdery mildew, as well as to the rainy season. But such a rose is not resistant to black spot, therefore, these shrubs should be planted in sunny areas, where a light breeze regularly "walks" and blows the plants. Another preventive measure against this disease is to regularly prune the rose bushes so that the flowers do not thicken.

In the southern regions, the Verano variety can not be sheltered for the winter, since it is resistant to a drop in ambient temperature to -10, -15 degrees Celsius. And in areas located in colder climatic conditions, sheltering this shrub for the winter is the best remedy for freezing flowers in the cold.

And, of course, if the gardener wants this rose to delight with its continuous flowering, then one should not forget about caring for this flowering shrub. It is necessary to regularly water the near-stem circles of roses, loosen the soil and simultaneously remove the growing weeds. Several times per season, organic or nitrogen mineral fertilizers are necessarily introduced into the soil.

Also, you should regularly inspect the foliage and stems of rose bushes in order to notice the "invasion" of aphids or the development of diseases in time. For prophylaxis, Verano roses are sprayed several times per season with special preparations against "harmful" bugs and diseases.

Caring for these flowers is simple, so flower growers do not have any special worries. The only small drawback of this variety is that new buds appear on the bushes only after the old ones have completely bloomed (and the flowering process in Verano takes about two weeks). Therefore, blooming buds should be cut off immediately so that new ones appear on the bushes.

Description of the rose Osiria (Osiria): what kind of variety

Hybrid tea rose Osiria was bred in Germany in 1978 in Reimer Kordes nursery. About the gene pool chosen by the originator for the work, it is reliably known only that the Snowfire variety was used, among others.

For your information! The name Osiria was given to the new hybrid in honor of the legendary country of Assyria that disappeared into the depths of the sea, like Atlantis.

Rose Osiria

The height of an adult well-formed bush is 70-90 cm. The shoots are long, straight, strong, only sometimes slightly curved. The width of the crown is about 80 cm. The bush is formed sprawling, directed upwards, densely leafed. Large dark green matt leaf.

The bud is formed into a densely double goblet shape, and when fully opened, it turns into a bowl. The petal on the front side is velvety red (ripe cherry or strawberry), and on the inside - creamy milk with silver. Flowers are formed at the ends of the shoots, always 1 pc. Corolla diameter 9-12 cm. The first bud opens in early June, the last in October. The aroma is spicy, but light, intensifying in damp weather and in the evenings.

Advantages and disadvantages of the variety

Among the undeniable advantages:

  • frost resistance up to −23 ° С;
  • long (up to 4 months) flowering;
  • powerful straight shoots are great for cutting;
  • pleasant and distinct aroma;
  • durability: the bush grows for several decades in one place;
  • easily propagated by cuttings with all the characteristics preserved.

Disadvantages:

  • lack of nutrients can trigger the development of chlorosis;
  • in too hot sun the bush can get burns, it is better to plant it where there is a slight shade for part of the day;
  • instability to powdery mildew and rust;
  • tough shoots are not suitable for propagation by layering;
  • under their own weight, the buds soaked after the rain droop.

Use in landscape design

Note! Flowers are cut for bouquets, but since they stand in vases for a very long time (up to two weeks), then there are quite enough of them on the bushes
