Landing
To plant Ito's peonies on the site, they choose a place in advance. An important condition for the content is the choice of neighboring cultures.
Seat selection
Ito's peonies are located in areas where the sun's rays are accessible. Lowlands or wetlands are not suitable for peonies.
Ground requirements
The soil for flowers should be neutral in acidity. Before planting, the soil is prepared in advance, fertilized, dug up, saturating it with air.
Timing
The best option for planting seedlings is considered the end of summer, the beginning of autumn. When planted during this period, the peonies will have time to take root and come prepared for the frost.
Predecessors
When planting flower crops, the rules of crop rotation are observed. Vegetables or annual flowers can grow in front of the peonies.
Neighbors
Typically, peonies are grown alongside flower crops. Good neighbors for them can be:
- decorative shrubs;
- low-growing conifers;
- flowers are annuals.
Landing scheme
For full growth, peony bushes need space. A distance of 35-50 centimeters is left between the bushes.
Planting and leaving
The new species of peonies prefers areas exposed to sunlight. Slight shading in the middle of the day is allowed. When choosing a place, several important points are taken into account:
- Peonies should not be planted in lowlands where water stagnates after rains and melting snow.
- Loamy soil is preferred, with a neutral or slightly alkaline reaction.
- There should be no trees or large bushes nearby, they will take nutrients from the ground.
The optimal time to add a new bush to the garden is autumn. Planting in spring is not recommended, but flowers can be planted in April if necessary. A pit for a seedling is prepared in advance. Its size is 70670 cm, depth is 50-60 cm. Sand, expanded clay or just bits of brick are poured at the bottom. These materials act as a drainage system to improve the flow of water. Under the root, a pillow is prepared from fertile loose soil with mineral fertilizers.
- humus or compost;
- garden land;
- superphosphate - 200 g;
- dolomite flour 200-300 g;
- wood ash - 250-500 g.
After mixing all the components, fill the hole with them by 2/3. The roots of the flowers will be drawn to the harvested nutrients. The seedling is placed in the middle of the pit and covered with earth.
It is important to know how to plant the ITO-peony correctly. Root buds should be 3-5 cm from the surface
The seedling is watered abundantly.
Hybrid peonies are extremely resistant to negative temperatures and do not need winter shelter. In cold regions, it is recommended to protect young plantings of the first year with moss or oak leaves. In spring, plants need good watering, fertilizing with mineral fertilizers and loosening the soil. In the first 2 years, feeding is carried out by the foliar method, according to the leaves. In total, the soil is fertilized 3 times per season: in early spring, before flowering and at the end of summer. In autumn, the stems are cut like those of herbaceous peonies.
Reproduction of hybrids occurs by dividing the root. An adult plant at the age of 4-5 years is suitable for cutting. I propagate perennials at the end of August or September. The rhizome is divided into parts of the same size with roots not shorter than 15 cm and 2-3 growth buds. Before planting, the delenki are treated with a fungicide solution.
Description of Ito-peony Julia Rose
In the middle of the twentieth century, Japanese breeder Toichi Ito spent a lot of effort to breed a peony with yellow flowers. The crossing of a milky-flowered herbaceous species with a tree-like species led to the emergence of an unusual hybrid called Ito-pion. The new Julia Rose variety successfully combines the merits of both parents:
- frost resistance came from herbaceous peonies. Moreover, the ground part of the plant dies off in the autumn and there is no need to cover the stems for the winter;
- the shape and color of the flowers, the hybrid inherited from the tree varieties.
The main feature is to show signs of both treelike and herbaceous plants. General description of the peony Ito-hybrid Julia Rose: grows 80-90 cm, bright green leaves look like thin feathers, and densely cover the bushes. Since Julia Rose's stems are quite sturdy, they don't fall apart under the weight of the flowers and don't need garters.
Experienced growers recommend protecting Julia Rose peony bushes from severe northern frosts at the end of the season with layers of peat and hay.
Flowering features
Semi-double silky buds reach 17-20 cm in diameter, but cannot boast of special splendor. The photo shows how spectacularly the Ito-peony Julia Rose bush looks, on which many buds have blossomed.
It is advisable to plant bushes in groups
In the center of the flower, golden stamens are densely located. According to experienced flower growers, peony bushes over 4-5 years old delight with maximum beauty. The period of abundant flowering begins in the second half of May and lasts until mid-July, which is facilitated by high-quality care:
- timely watering;
- loosening the soil;
- correct fertilization of the soil.
The originality of this variety of peonies is manifested in a rich palette of petal shades. Some growers call Julia Rose a chameleon for the peculiarity of changing the shades of flowers. The blossoming buds are cherry red in color. During the flowering period, the petals gradually fade - bright colors acquire pastel orange-pink notes, which imperceptibly turn into a yellow palette. Or the hybrid peony Itoh Julia Rose demonstrates the entire rich range of shades at the same time.

Application in design
Lush peony bushes Julia Rose look self-sufficient and do not need a flower company. But with skillful combination with other plants, it is not difficult to give a landscape design a non-standard look.
To create a play of contrasts, ornamental plants with small foliage are planted in a small area next to the Ito hybrids. Or three-dimensional peonies are located near large trees. The tenderness of the buds of pastel colors will be emphasized by the rich greenery of the juniper bushes.
Picturesquely decorated with Ito varieties and lawns along the paths. Low-growing plants (primroses, daisies, cuffs) are planted along the edge. Julia Rose peonies serve as the second tier or are arranged in separate groups of 3-4 bushes.
The foliage of the hybrid retains a juicy green hue throughout the season. And this is another reason why an ornamental plant is in great demand among landscape designers.

An uncommon solution is to decorate spacious loggias or large balconies with lush peonies Julia Rose. It is better to install voluminous flowerpots on mobile stands to make it easier to transport the plant to a garage or basement for the winter.
