Petunia Taidal: variety description
Petunia Taydal: photo of the variety
Initially, of course, a more detailed description of the Taidal petunia variety should be given. This variety of petunias differs from the rest in that it has better health, a fairly high level of immunity and stress resistance.
Thanks to this, even in the case of minor damage, Petunia Tidal can recover faster and, accordingly, restore its decorative features. Also, some experienced gardeners are surprised by the fact that the variety quite quickly and successfully adapts even in such climatic conditions that are not stable and resistant.
We list some of the main parameters of plants - petunias of the Taidal variety:
- bushes are medium. The height of one on average varies from half a meter to sixty centimeters. The bush itself is abundantly dotted with excellent flowers, which are distinguished by incredible bright shades and a very pleasant aroma emanates from them.
- the petals of the bushes are very smooth. But at the same time, from the same group of petunias, you can find varieties where the flowers will not have smooth, but double petals. Which also looks incredibly attractive and decorative
- the size of the flowers is very large. In diameter, one petunia flower of the Tidal wave variety reaches six centimeters. But it should be borne in mind that such dimensions are possible only if the plant is sufficiently and thoroughly cared for.
- the branches of the plant are very long - about one and a half meters. There may be small branches, and there may be even longer branches. They are worth keeping an eye on. Some are periodically pruned for formative and sanitary purposes.
Actually, these are all the most striking characteristics that distinguish the appearance of petunia bushes of this variety. There are also some conditions of care and cultivation, and we will devote this to the next part of this article.
Scheme of sowing seeds and growing seedlings
Through trial and error, gardeners have determined that the best way to grow Typhoon bushes is from seeds. Here again it is necessary to emphasize that it is necessary to use a soil designed specifically for this species. Only in this case will a healthy plant with wild flowering grow.
In any specialized store, you can purchase ready-made soil in which the proportions of the necessary components will be observed. If it is not possible to buy, you can mix it yourself, the soil includes peat, sand, humus and part of the turf.
For a normal landing, the following scheme should be applied:
- the bottom of the landing container is covered with a layer of expanded clay stone;
- the required amount of soil is laid out, abundantly filled with water;
- the seeds of the plant should be distributed at equal intervals over the surface;
- irrigated from a spray bottle;
- the top of the container should be covered with polyethylene or a glass dome to create a greenhouse effect.
The temperature should not be less than 20 ° С, but not more than 25 ° С.
There is a simpler and no less effective way to grow Typhoon large-flowered petunia seedlings: using peat tablets instead of soil in a container. The scheme itself is the same, but instead of a pot, a soaked peat tablet is used, in which the seeds are placed.
Important! Gardeners consider the end of March to be the most favorable period for sowing. At this time, the duration of daylight hours begins to increase.
The first shoots appear in two weeks. After waiting for the first two leaves to appear on the stem, you can start picking seedlings. In order to avoid temperature jumps and weather disasters, the best time for transplanting into open ground is the end of May or the beginning of June.
My violet
One plant can occupy an area of about one and a half square meters of a flower bed. Height - 55 cm, length of lashes up to 1.5 m, flower diameter 5 cm. The plant is very resistant to adverse weather conditions. Powerful growth and abundant flowering of Tidal Wave will delight you until the frost!
I have always been attracted by these tidals or tadays, what is the correct name for them there ?!). First, the beauty of flowers that I saw in the pictures. Secondly, it was interesting to check if petunia is capable of occupying such a large area, up to one and a half square meters ?!
And now, the seeds of petunia sown in January have already turned into bushes in mid-April. And in late May - early June, they were already blooming with might and main.
Yes, the very color of the flower did not disappoint me in the least. The flower itself was small, about 5 cm, but what a! Unmatched color! And it seems simple, but tasteful!)
Well, judge for yourself.
On my sunny balcony, the petunia of the Tydal series in June did not show itself in any way and personally did not cause delight in me, since I expected more in terms of density. She needed a scale. The hanging pot clearly lacked space and food.
This photo was taken on June 1, but, looking ahead, I will say that at the end of June she looked no better on the balcony. However, I will note the following. For decent seeds like tidal, it is characteristic that they bush themselves, they do not need to be pinched!
This variety needs will! So if you want to grow a Tidal Wave Silver petunia, give it freedom outdoors.
This is what I did. I took the petunia to the country. The container in which I planted several petunia bushes was chosen large, with a volume of about 20 liters, no less. The substrate in which I planted the petunia was as follows: mostly peat, some garden soil and compost. No granular beads to hold water, perlite, vermiculite, etc. I didn’t lie down.
Petunia quickly took root and began to grow. Literally in a week in the fresh air, its leaves became stiffer, the stems became denser. She was unrecognizable!
Since I didn’t regret the compost, I didn’t bother to feed the petunia almost all summer. In fact, petunias are voracious creatures and for abundant flowering, they need to be fed, well, at least a couple of times a week. I fed my balcony petunias every other leaf (2-3 times a week). Garden petunias, if they got some kind of fertilizer, it is not often enough, maybe 2 times a month.
There was a sea of flowers on it!
This photo was taken in mid-July.
I watered my tidals every other day, sometimes two days later, since it was not possible to come to the dacha every day. And nothing, in a large container, they did not dry out much, even the leaves did not wither.
For outdoor cultivation, this Tidal Wave Silver petunia variety has paid off. I think if it is planted in open ground, it will take up a very large area.
Conclusion: a great variety for outdoor cultivation!
04/29/2015 Beauty. I want such a miracle for myself! What a pity that I learned about this flower late. Next year I will definitely plant (if I find seeds on sale) And thanks for the information!
Tidal Cherry, just magic)
07/09/2017 I sow "Dzhakonda". In my opinion, this is the same thing. I am very pleased with the flower!
08/07/2018 taydal wave is much stronger and more powerful petunia, although the mona lisa is also good.
How can joint purchases save money?
The chain of intermediaries increases the value of the goods by
50%. Let's say the manufacturer has a thing worth 100 rubles. But in the store you will pay 150 rubles for it (due to suppliers' surcharges).
Is it possible to buy goods without a surcharge directly from the manufacturer?
It's complicated. After all, it is necessary to order a large batch ... Factories will not ship 1 item for each customer, they are focused on wholesale supplies.
Unite with other buyers, place a large order from a supplier and receive your product from the general package. No extra charge and no overpayments!
Wow, this is profitable! How to take part in the purchase of goods?
Making joint purchases is simple and profitable! But who collects orders and oversees them?
All conditions for your successful purchases have been created in the "Berezka Club". The organizer is responsible for each purchase. He oversees the process of collecting orders from participants in a joint purchase, collects money for goods, negotiates conditions with a supplier and then distributes things to buyers.
What is an organizer? What is its benefit?
Organizers are buyers who have made joint purchases with their work.
Varieties
Typhoon Silver
Depending on the manufacturer, the name Typhoon Silver or Tidal Silver may appear. This series is bushy and has the longest flowering period. Flowers are white or pinkish in color, 5-7 cm in diameter. Flowering begins at the end of May and lasts almost until the first snow.
The variety tolerates a lack of moisture and heat very well, therefore it does not need frequent abundant watering due to its strong root system, which is able to independently provide itself with access to water. Typhoon Silver has long, powerful stems up to 70 cm in height. The bush can grow up to 1.5 m wide, but this requires wide dishes with a volume of about 30 liters.
Typhoon Cherry
This variety is a fast growing shrub with medium sized cherry blossoms. Like all representatives of the Typhoon variety, the plant has deep roots. The seedlings take root very easily and give new shoots within a few weeks after planting.
This plant is of a cascade type, therefore it is recommended for planting in a high flowerpot or in a hanging planter. Since the plant grows rather quickly, you should immediately choose a spacious container for planting. When planting "Typhoon Cherry" on a flowerbed, the seedlings should be planted from each other at a distance of 35-70 cm. For planting, you should choose a sunny place. The plant needs additional feeding only at the initial stage after planting, then it is able to get food on its own.
Typhoon Red Velor
Depending on the manufacturer, the name "Tidal F1 Red Velor" can also be found. The plant is classified as ampelous cascading. It is often chosen for decorating summer cottages, as well as for decorating city flower beds. The variety is distinguished by its higher height compared to other species: it can reach half a meter. When blooming, many flowers appear, measuring 5-6 cm in diameter. The color of the Typhoon Red Velor petunia can be very different: from white and pale lilac to bright red and dark purple.
The variety is practically unaffected by fungi and other microbes, resistant to natural disasters. When planting, it is necessary to maintain a distance between the bushes of 30-60 cm - this will significantly improve the appearance of the plant. With proper care, the bush can fill an area of up to 1.5-2 sq. m.
In case of damage, the broken stems are not removed, since they have the ability to recover well.
You will learn more about the rules for caring for a Typhoon series petunia by watching the following video.
Typhoon petunia is perhaps the brightest representative of this plant variety. Petunia Typhoon differs in that it has a huge number of different shades of flowers, as well as a unique aroma that comes from bright decorative inflorescences. The variety is used for a wide variety of purposes.
The bushes are decorated with excellent and very large flowers, which is why they attract gardeners and landscape designers. It should be emphasized that petunia of this variety is particularly capricious and whimsical in care. Therefore, it is worth very carefully watching the plants, and then they will respond with excellent flowers, which will be painted in a wide variety of shades.
Also, this article will be useful for both novice gardeners and those gardeners who already have some experience in grooming measures for Typhoon petunias. This information is useful.Since it will allow you to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the plant, its advantages and disadvantages over other varieties of petunias.
Characteristics of Petunia Tornado
Everyone dreams of decorating the garden with bright huge flowers. The giant ampelous petunia Tornado has been very popular in recent years among flower growers. There are no analogues to it. The plant is lush, airy, powerful, with a highly developed root system. This multi-flowered wonder is produced by Pan American Seed.
Variety characteristics
Petunia is a fast and strong growing crop. In landscape design, both petunia cascading Tornado F1 Silver and ground cover varieties are used.
The main, most special of the multi-flowered petunias is the Typhoon variety. Its value lies in long-term profuse flowering, a pleasant aroma that fills the flower garden, the surrounding area.
The distinctive mark of the variety is the huge size of the bush and the large number of flowers on it. Their diameter is about 6 cm!
The plant has strong, flexible shoots with an average length of 1.2 m. The Tornado variety has 2 colors: Petunia Silver and Parple.
Crop preferences for growing:
- sunny places;
- sandy soils;
- light loamy.
Such soil will not interfere with the qualitative development of the root system.
It is necessary to water the crop well at the beginning of its growth. When the bush reaches standard sizes, watering is stopped. The Tornado variety is lighter and better tolerates a lack of moisture, extreme heat, also:
- easily tolerates weather troubles;
- quickly recovers from damage;
- has a high resistance to disease;
- grows well and blooms until frost.
Sowing and planting seedlings
For seedlings, it is best to sow petunia seeds at the end of February, at the beginning of March. For planting, use nutritious loose soil (as a sowing substrate). You can purchase a special seedling soil.
A series of petunia giant cascading Tornado F1 Red Velor is produced in the form of dragees. It is more convenient to do sowing this way, since its seeds are very small.
Sow without covering the soil, superficially. After all, the germination of petunias occurs only with a sufficient amount of light.
When the sowing has taken place, it is necessary to maintain the temperature regime: its limits are 20-25 degrees Celsius. When shoots appear, the temperature can be lowered to 16-18 degrees. Thus, pulling out of the seedlings is prevented.
Daylight hours should be at least 14 hours. For this, additional illumination is used.
Formation, transplant
When 2-3 leaves appear, it is necessary to make a pick. Seedlings are planted in separate containers. When caring, it is necessary to periodically loosen the soil and water. It is possible, and sometimes just necessary, to feed the plants with a special mineral fertilizer for flowering crops.
On open ground, transplantation is carried out closer to the beginning of May. Many gardeners plant petunias in flowerpots, and some plant them directly in the garden or in the flower garden.
For planting, choose fertile areas that are well illuminated by sunlight.
If planted in a flowerpot, then the substrate should consist of peat, river sand and sod land equally. To make the soil looser, add vermiculite or perlite. A drainage layer is laid at the bottom of the flowerpot, at least 10 cm.
Having chosen pots or flowerpots for planting, do not forget that they should have a volume of 20 liters, no less. Smaller sizes will hold back the plant and it will not reach its full potential.
Features of caring for petunia on the street
For better growth and abundant flowering, a special mineral fertilizer is applied to the soil. The dosage is strictly according to the instructions.
If the region where the giant cascade tornado petunia is grown has an arid, hot climate, it is necessary to additionally add the hydrogel to the flowerpots. Due to it, soil moisture will be retained, the need for frequent watering will decrease.
In order for flowering to last as long as possible, seed boxes are periodically removed from the flowers.
Over time, the shoots of petunias become bare, the bush becomes unattractive, and the flowers bloom only at the ends of the shoots. In this case, in order to return to the previous decorative effect, it is necessary to trim the bushes.
With pruning shears or scissors, without sparing, they cut off all bare shoots, leaving a height of 15-20 cm. The bush will grow overgrown with new greenery in 2 weeks.
To avoid a complete haircut, you can trim the bushes of the plant a little at a time, but regularly.
For a very lush, abundant flowering, the bushes are fertilized with mineral additives with each watering.

Breeding features
You can grow petunia in three ways:
- With the help of seedlings. Having bought ready-made seedlings, the gardener can easily plant them in suitable soil and wait for shoots. This is the easiest method, which does not require a high level of skill and dexterity. As a rule, not many amateur gardeners can afford to buy the required amount of seedlings.
- Through the seeds. Growing petunia from seeds is an extremely difficult task, even for an experienced gardener, not to mention amateur beginners. The high price is just one of their disadvantages, which is supplemented by the fact that half of the planted seeds can simply die.
- Cuttings. Among gardeners, propagating petunias using cuttings is the most popular and easily accessible way of growing a shrub that blooms for a long time. It is economical, fairly simple, and yet affordable for even the most inexperienced plant lover. Cutting is the cultivation of a plant using cuttings, that is, an outgrowth from an already blooming plant. With the correct cut of the cutting and with proper care of the shoot, the chance of growing a beautiful flower is very high.
