Features of Fitoverm treatment of some indoor plants
When processing indoor flowers, there are several points to consider. If pests are found on one plant, it is necessary to inspect all flowers in the house to avoid the risk of secondary infection. Tips for processing indoor flowers:
- Spraying with chemicals should be carried out 3-4 times every 7 days. In this case, the air temperature must be at least 25 ˚C. If the temperature is higher, then the treatment should be carried out every 5 days. Processing will be ineffective at temperatures of 18 ° C and below.
- After spraying from a spray bottle, you do not need to put a plastic bag on the plant (with the exception of orchids). It is much more important to re-spray on schedule.
- A single treatment gives only a temporary effect: the treatment of flowers should be systematic.
Advice!
Plants should be sprayed when dry. It is better to carry out the procedure during the day. Due to the fact that Fitoverm is a drug of the 3rd hazard class, it is better to carry out the treatment on the balcony or in the fresh air. If you have to spray flowers indoors, the room must be thoroughly ventilated at the end of the procedure. To enhance the effect of Fitoverma, potassium soap can be added to the solution.
Violet
Indoor violets are most often attacked by thrips, aphids and ticks. You need to process the entire flower, and not just the affected areas. It is advisable to change the soil in the pot or thoroughly treat the old one with an insecticide. Before processing violets from pests, it is necessary to remove the peduncles.
Violet processing
The solution must be prepared from 2 ml Fitoverm and 1 liter of water. You can add a little shampoo or soap to the solution to enhance the effect. In total, you need to carry out 3-4 treatments, with an interval of 4 days. After spraying the violets, they must be placed in a dark place so that the leaves do not become stained.
Orchid
Fitoverm is used in case of mites infestation of orchid stems and leaves. Processing algorithm:
- Take the orchid out of the pot and disinfect it. If possible, it is advisable to purchase a new pot in order to protect the flower from re-infestation with parasites.
- Remove the substrate from the orchid roots. After the root system should be rinsed with hot water and soaked in a container with Fitoverm solution (1 mg per liter).
Orchid processing
- After processing, the orchid should be placed in a basin and covered with a plastic bag for a day. You need to put the container in a place where sunlight will fall on the plant. The roots can begin to dry out, so they will need to be moistened if necessary.
- The treatment must be repeated after 10 days, and then the orchid should be planted in a new pot. You can water the flower after 5 days.
- The processing of the flower is repeated 2 more times, and in this case, the drug must not be applied to the leaves, but added to the soil.
the Rose
Spider mites are most often found on roses. Pest control should be carried out in the fresh air, spraying leaves from both sides from a sprayer. If part of the solution remains, it can be moistened with the top layer of the soil. With a sponge dipped in a solution of a chemical, you need to treat the windowsill, on which there is a pot with a rose.
Rose cure
The parasites die in a few hours. To get rid of them completely, 3-4 rose treatments are enough with breaks a week. The average dosage of Fitoverma for roses is 2.5 ml per 1.25 liters of water.
Lily
Lilies need to be processed from a spray bottle that provides a fine dispersion of the solution
It is important to process the lily leaf plates on both sides. The duration of the action of the insecticide depends on the type of pest
Gnawers begin to die after 6-8 hours, and suckers - after two days.The chemical preparation shows its maximum effect after a week. After 20 days, the lilies can be re-processed. The dosage of Fitoverma differs depending on the disease of the lily:
- 4 ml for 2 liters of ticks;
- 4 ml per 1 liter from aphids;
- 4 ml for 0.5 liters of thrips.
Ficus
For spraying ficuses, set the finest spray in the sprayer. On average, to process ficus, you will need 2 ml of the substance and 1 liter of water. This method is suitable for removing spider mites. Re-processing should be done after 4 days.
To remove thrips from a plant, 2 ml of the drug must be diluted in 500 water. In especially advanced cases, you can take 300 ml of liquid. You need to spray not only the leaves, but also the top layer of the soil. The number of treatments is 2, with an interval of 2 weeks.
Fitoverm: detailed instructions for use
When to treat plants with Fitoverm
I advise you to resort to the help of Fitoverm only in case of mass appearance of pests. Still, by interfering in such a rude way in the ecosystem, we upset its balance. As a result, if you use insecticides at the slightest threat to the crop, in the next season you can face a doubling and tripling of the number of pests.
The drug does not provide prophylaxis, so it is useless for them to treat the plants in advance.
Moisture and sunlight accelerate the inactivation of the solution, so it is better to work in the pre-sunset hours in dry and calm weather. And check the weather forecast so that even a light rain is not expected in the next 3-5 days. If a little water gets on the leaves, the protection period will be shortened from three weeks to 5-7 days.
If you urgently need to save the plants, but the next day precipitation is planned, use the drug together with adhesives - for example, Agrolip, Tandem, Atomic, Liposam, Trend 90. When to apply the adhesive - before, after or together with a pesticide - is usually indicated on its packaging.
Unlike other insecticides, the effectiveness of Fitoverm only increases with increasing temperature. When it jumps from 20 to 30 degrees, the drug starts working 8 times better! This is an invaluable quality for areas with hot climates.
The lower temperature threshold is + 10 ... 12 degrees, but I recommend waiting until the temperature rises to at least +15 degrees.
To achieve total extermination of small invaders, 2-3 treatments are performed with an interval of 3-7 days, depending on weather conditions and the type of pest.
How to breed Fitoverm for spraying
Fitoverm does not react with plastic and metal, so it can be diluted in any convenient container (except food, of course).
To prevent separation of the drug in water, I advise you to prepare the solution in several steps.
- Determine the right amount of solution based on the type of crop and the area of the garden. The table below will help you with this.
- Open the ampoule, measure out the concentrate with a dispenser or a small syringe, pour it into 100 ml of water and mix thoroughly.
- Add another 900 milliliters of water, mix.
- Bring the solution to the correct strength and pour it into a garden sprayer or spray bottle.
Fitoverm is compatible with growth regulators (Epin Extra, Zircon, Immunocytofit, Tsitovit), pyrethroids, fungicides, fertilizers and organophosphate insecticides.
The instruction indicates that the agent cannot be used simultaneously with chemical insecticides and alkaline substances.
How to handle plants
The prepared solution can be sprayed on the plant, it is better to spray on a cloudy day or in the evening. The efficiency of processing increases at temperatures from +18 degrees.
Open areas are treated in dry, calm weather, so that every drop of insectoacaricide gets to its intended purpose. The biological product is reused after 7 days to completely destroy the pest population

1. "Fitoverm" for orchids
Among many people who grow flowers, there is confidence that if an orchid is attacked by thrips, then most of them are located in flowers, and instead of treatment it is better to remove and throw them away. But as for the soil and the stem of the plant, they can be treated with "Fitoverm" following the standard instructions.
And if a tick attacked the orchid, then with the help of this drug you can easily save the plant from death and destroy the tick.
The following algorithm of actions should be adhered to:
- Remove the plant from the pot, replace the pot
- Wash the root system under hot running water, process at the rate using the dosage: 1 gram per 1 liter.
- Place the plant in a sunny place in a wide bowl. On the first day after treatment, it is better to close the orchid with a plastic bag. All the time, while the orchid is not in the pot, its roots must be sprayed with water.
- After 10 days, repeat the procedure and plant back in the pot.
- The next two treatments must be carried out according to the usual algorithm.
2. "Fitoverm" for violets
In violets, both the earth and the leaves are subject to processing. It is worth considering that the period between treatments in violets is shorter than that of other indoor plants. This period lasts three days. Recommended usage rate: one ampoule per liter of water.
3. "Fitoverm" for seedlings
Seedlings in apartment conditions are grown on the basis of transplanting them into open land in the future. When processing seedlings with Fitoverm, it is worth remembering that at the time of processing the plants are included in the group of indoor plants, and not fruit and vegetable.
That is why fertilization periods, dosages and all other rules should be based on indoor plants. You can effectively get rid of insects by using the drug not only for the ground, but also for spraying the leaves.
It is also necessary to remember that the drug retains its properties only at temperatures above 18 degrees.
The effect of the drug on indoor plants
Fitoverm drug has a complex effect:
insects swallow the agent, particles of the solution remain on the legs and body;
after the penetration of agrosmectin C into the pest's body, an active effect on the transmission of nerve impulses begins (blocking signals), which leads to paralysis of a tick or insect;
gradually all organs of the pest fail, the insect cannot breathe, feed, problems appear with all life processes. After a while, the parasite dies.
Fitoverm agent based on agrosmectin is destructive for different categories of pests: not only for grown-up and adults, but also for many types of larvae and eggs
It is important to treat the soil, where young mites and harmful insects are often found.
One of the positive points is the average level of toxicity, the lower risk of human poisoning when processing plants in open and closed ground, all types of indoor types of green decor.
Pros and cons of the remedy
On sale you can find different volumes of ampoules (2, 4 and 5 ml) and bottles (10-400 ml). for processing large agricultural areas, packing in 5 liter canisters is provided.
Benefits of the drug:
- A wide range of effects on various groups of insect pests.
- Natural and safe for humans.
- Does not have a negative effect on plants.
- It decomposes quickly in the soil, leaving no harmful compounds.
- Not addictive even with repeated use.
- Depending on the area to be treated, a suitable amount of the product can be purchased.
Due to the fast disintegration period, spraying can be carried out during the fruiting period, which distinguishes Fitoverm from other preparations. In addition, this remedy shows the maximum effect in dry and hot weather, while many drugs "do not work" in such conditions. In addition to unconditional advantages, the tool also has some disadvantages.
These include:
- Higher cost compared to chemical counterparts.
- The need for repeated processing for the complete destruction of pests.
- Incompatibility with other drugs.
- When processing during flowering, pollinating insects die.
- Unpleasant, pungent smell of the prepared solution.
- Ineffective in soil cultivation.
The product is extremely unstable to sediments, therefore, when diluting, the use of an adhesive substance is required. Usually, a soap solution is used for these purposes. In addition, for spraying, it is necessary to choose a day without the slightest precipitation, otherwise there will be no benefit from treatment.
Principle of action and special instructions for the use of Fitoverma
The active substance of Fitoverma is aversectin C. The insecticide is most often used to kill dangerous insects. The biological product has a paralyzing effect on pests, which is why they die 2-3 days after using the substance. The advantages of Fitoverma are low toxicity and the absence of addiction of insects to the insecticide.
The duration of action is from 7 to 20 days. The agent does not accumulate in the cells of leaves and fruits. The drug can be used in hot weather, before and during flowering of fruit crops. The decomposition time of the substance is short, due to which the soil in which the plant is located is not contaminated.
It should be noted that the prepared Fitoverm solution must be applied immediately after dilution. In addition, sprayers used for treatment quickly deteriorate.
Indications for processing
Fitoverm must be used if the following have been seen on indoor plants:
- Aphid. Yellow, green or black insects up to 5 mm in length. Parts of plants on which aphids start become sticky, often deformed, flowers and shoots of the plant wither.
- Whitefly. Small insects that weaken flowers look like butterflies. They appear on the back of the leaves, and when the flower is shaken they fly apart.
- Thrips. Rarely visible to the naked eye, but leaves many light dots on the outside of the leaves. Pests also infect buds and flowers.
- Ticks. The plant is partially covered with a thin cobweb, the leaves lose their rich color and die off, they can be covered with white dots.
Hazard class and precautions
Fitoverm belongs to moderately hazardous substances (3rd class). Avoid contact of the chemical with skin and mucous membranes before processing plants. The following personal protective equipment will help with this:
- rubber gloves;
- mask;
- glasses.
It is advisable to dress in a suit or work clothes with long sleeves and trousers, and tie a headscarf or a hat on your head. You need to put on closed shoes on your feet. Safe working time with this chemical is 4 hours.
Orchid treatment with phytoverm
During processing, do not smoke, drink or eat food. Symptoms of poisoning are manifested in nausea and vomiting. In case of accidental ingestion of the drug inside the body, it is necessary to drink activated charcoal with a large amount of liquid, rinse the stomach, and call an ambulance.
Dispose of the remains of the unused product in the sewer or plant soil. Do not dispose of the chemical in a home sink or in an open body of water. After treatment, hands should be washed with soap and water.
Compatibility with other products
A chemical agent cannot be used in parallel with pesticides. It is possible to use other substances for plants a week after spraying them with Fitoverm.
Important! It is also forbidden to use an insecticide and substances with an alkaline reaction together.
- fertilizers;
- growth regulators;
- organophosphates against insects;
- fungicides;
- pyrethroids.
Pros and cons of the drug
Plants treated with phytoverm quickly bounce back and get rid of pests. It's all about the use of a truly effective drug. Fitoverm has many advantages over similar formulations:
- decomposes completely already after 24 hours after getting on the stems and leaves of the plant, as well as on the substrate;
- do not be afraid to dilute and then apply the product if fruits are ripening on your houseplants - the concentrate of chemicals will not affect them;
- already 2 days after the elimination of insects on domestic plants, their fruits, if any, can be eaten;
- the drug has shown its effectiveness more than once, besides, pests do not adapt to it. The effect of addiction of insects to phytoverm is definitely not threatening you.
There are many points that can adversely affect the quality of the solution:
- if you are processing plants outdoors, rain or dew can significantly reduce the effect;
- it is necessary to reapply the drug to the flowers, otherwise you will hardly be able to completely remove the insects;
- it is quite possible that you need adjuvants - special components that can somewhat reduce the surface tension of water. Thanks to their use, fitoverm is much easier to distribute over the leaves of an indoor flower;
- in no case should you add other poisons to phytoverm;
- high cost is another significant disadvantage of the drug.
Despite the shortcomings, the tool has gained wide popularity among flower growers, since with its help you can get rid of pests quite effectively.
Instructions for use
It is recommended to use the drug immediately upon detection of any pest or parasite. The sooner the treatment is started, the more chances to keep the life and health of the plant.
It is worth remembering that although Fitoverm is an effective means of fighting insects, it cannot kill them instantly. Complete disposal of pests will occur approximately 3-5 days after the application of the drug.
Fitoverm belongs to the 3rd hazard class, so you need to be extremely careful during its use and application, so as not to harm yourself or your loved ones.
For the treatment of indoor plants, one ampoule containing 2 grams of the drug is diluted in one liter of water. Each leaf of the plant must be carefully processed with this composition. For these purposes, it is recommended to use a spray bottle because it will make the distribution more common.
To obtain the best result, it is not enough just to kill the existing insects, you need to carry out a full course of treatment, which consists of 4 treatments with an interval of 7-10 days.
It should also be remembered that all pests perceive the effects of the poison contained in Fitoverme differently, therefore, there is a dosage for an individual insect:
- Spider mite - 2 grams per 2.5 liters of water.
- Aphids - 2 grams per 0.6 liters of water.
- Thrips - 2 grams per 0.5 liters of water.
1. "Fitoverm" for orchids
Among many gardeners, there is an opinion that if an orchid is struck by thrips, then most of them are located in flowers, and instead of treatment it is more expedient to remove and throw them away. But as for the soil and the stem of the plant, they can be treated with "Fitoverm" following the standard instructions.
But if a tick attacked the orchid, then with the help of this drug you can easily get rid of it and save the plant from death.
The following algorithm of actions should be adhered to:
- First you need to carefully remove the plant from the pot and thoroughly disinfect the dishes, and it is best to replace it with a new one.
- Next, you need to rinse the roots of the plant under hot water and carefully treat with the drug, using the dosage: 1 gram per 1 liter.
- After that, the plant must be placed in a wide bowl so that sunlight falls on the flower. On the first day after treatment, it is necessary to cover the orchid with a plastic bag. All the time without soil, the roots must be sprayed with water.
- After 10 days, the procedure must be repeated and immediately after it, the plant must be planted back into the pot.
- The remaining two treatments must be carried out according to standard technology, only in addition to the leaves, the drug is also introduced into the plant soil.
2. "Fitoverm" for violets
Just as in the case of orchids, violets must be cultivated everywhere, that is, both the leaves and the ground. It is worth considering that the period between treatments in violets is shorter than that of other indoor plants and is 3 days.
Recommended dosage: one ampoule per liter of water, also experienced flower growers advise adding a couple of drops of animal shampoo, which contains permethrin, to the resulting solution.
3. "Fitoverm" for seedlings
Seedlings are grown in order to transfer plants to open ground in the future, but when processing seedlings with Fitoverm, it should be remembered that at this stage of development, plants are indoor, not fruit and vegetable crops.
Therefore, the periods between treatments and the dosage of the drug should be observed in proportions calculated for indoor plants. For more effective disposal of parasites, it is necessary to use a preparation for treating both plant leaves and soil.
It should also be remembered that the drug works only at temperatures above 18 degrees.
Pros and cons of Fitoverma
Fitoverm is a remedy against pests of the fourth generation, the main advantage of which is the minimum harmful effect on the soil, flora and useful fauna of the site.
Among the advantages of the drug, you can also highlight:
- High performance and a long list of pests to be destroyed.
- Versatility. Applicable to all plants in the garden, vegetable garden and at home, does not inhibit their development.
- The double mechanism of action is through the skin and intestines of insects.
- The long term of plant protection - up to 20 days - allows you to do only 2-3 treatments per season.
- Complete safety for plants.
- Fast deactivation - it is safe to harvest the crop already 48 hours after treatment, it does not accumulate in either the fruit or the foliage.
- Convenient packaging. You can choose the amount of the drug that is needed for your purposes.
- Lack of addiction. The effectiveness of the pesticide does not decrease during 5-6 seasons of successive application.
- Good compatibility with most drugs on the market.
- It is especially effective in the heat, in contrast to the bulk of chemicals.
Despite all these advantages, Fitoverm does not solve all pest problems due to some disadvantages:
- Photo instability, that is, the drug instantly decomposes in the light.
- Fragility on the leaves. The solution weakly adheres to plants and is quickly washed off by precipitation and dew. Therefore, it is recommended to add soap or store adhesives to the liquid.
- Selectivity in action. The larvae and eggs of pests do not take part in feeding, so some of them survive processing. Ticks also often hide in the veins of the leaves, so that many individuals manage to avoid contact with the poison.
- High cost. Especially in comparison with similar drugs based on vigorous chemistry.
- Unpleasant (albeit mild) odor.
- Toxicity to bees and other pollinators.
- Cannot be applied to soil.
- The working solution is not stored for more than one day.
Instructions for use, how to handle
When using the drug, you must adhere to the instructions given on the package. Crops growing on the street and in greenhouses are processed during the growing season, indoor crops when pests appear.
Working solution
You should not buy the drug for the future. The working solution is not subject to even short-term storage. During cooking, care must be taken that the emulsion does not stratify, otherwise the mixture will be spoiled. Then Fitoverm will have to be poured out, and the new portion should be done more carefully.
Preparation of working solution:
- 4/5 of the required amount of water is poured into a spray bottle.
- An intermediate solution is prepared. The required dose of the drug from the vial or ampoules is poured into a small glass container. Larger containers are filled with 20% of the total amount of water. The concentrate is poured in a thin stream with constant stirring.
- The mixture is carefully and little by little added to the water bottle.
- Shake the sprayer several times and start processing.
Processing of vegetable crops
It is possible that when Fitoverm processes a vegetable garden, the mixture will have to be prepared several times. The concentration of the solution varies depending on the pest.
Processed crop | Pest | Solution concentration |
On potatoes and other nightshade crops, use | fitoverm from the Colorado potato beetle | dissolve 2 ml of emulsion in 2 liters of water no more than 3 times per season |
For tomato, eggplant, cucumber, other vegetables | aphid | treatment is carried out with a solution of the drug (2 ml) and water (250 ml) three times with an interval of 2-3 weeks |
Fitoverm preparation for cucumbers, peppers, eggplants, tomato processing | spider mite | double treatment is needed, for which 2 ml of the drug is mixed with 0.2 l of water |
For cabbage and onions that are not listed in the instructions | for the destruction of typical pests | 2 ml of concentrate is diluted with 500 ml of water |
Application on fruit and berry plants
When processing a garden or berry plant, Fitoverm solution is made less concentrated than for a vegetable garden. Large plants need not only be sprayed, but completely moisten the aerial part, so that the consumption of the drug does not decrease.
To combat pests on fruit trees and shrubs, 2 ml of Fitoverm are diluted in 1-1.3 liters of water. The amount of working solution required to process one plant differs:
- apple and pear - 5 l;
- currants - 1 l;
- cherries, cherries - 2 l;
- plum, peach, apricot - 3 l.
For grapes, the amount of vegetative mass of which strongly depends on the cut, the amount of the preparation is calculated per the area occupied by the vine. For 1 sq. m use 1 liter of working solution. Similarly, the consumption of insecticide for raspberries, blackberries is determined.
There was no place in the instructions for the use of Fitoverm for strawberries. The garden bed is treated entirely, consuming 1 liter of the diluted drug per 1 sq. m area
Particular attention is paid to the soil under the bushes - on the underside of the leaves and on the surface of the ground, most of the pests hide
Processing of ornamental plants
Beautifully flowering and decorative leafy crops do not produce edible fruits. It would seem that it is better to treat them with potent chemicals that have a prolonged effect. But they have a phytotoxic (poisonous) effect on plants, which can lead to chlorosis, curvature of stems, deformation of flowers, and general oppression of the plant.
Spraying of ornamental crops with Fitoverm is carried out according to the following scheme.
Pest | Application scheme |
Spider mite | 2 ml of the drug is diluted in 1 liter of water, 2-3 treatments are carried out with an interval of 7-10 days |
from aphids | 2 ml of emulsion is mixed with 500 ml of water |
from thrips | only strong drug concentration - 2 ml per 250 ml |
For indoor flowers
Florists willingly use Fitoverm for indoor plants. Before its appearance, it was difficult to fight pests; there was simply no alternative to the toxic Aktelik. Often, treatments were carried out with laundry soap, and severely affected plants were thrown away.
Fitoverm has become a real salvation for orchids. Previously, at the slightest suspicion of infection with a mealybug or scale insect, the plant was usually thrown away.
Instructions for use for indoor flowers:
- Fitoverm is diluted at a concentration of 10-12 g / l.
- Flowers affected by pests are taken to a separate room. A glazed loggia, a shed will do.
- The plant is treated every 3-4 days with a fresh emulsion solution until the pests are completely destroyed.
- After spraying, the room is closed for a day, then ventilated.
conclusions
Fitoverm saves houseplants from the most common pests. The drug has many advantages - zero phytotoxicity, high efficiency, comparative safety for legal residents of an apartment or house.
But in order to completely exterminate pests, multiple treatments are needed. And although my review of the drug is generally positive, last year it was not able to cope with aphids on pepper seedlings.
But, most likely, this happened due to the fact that I missed the fourth final spray.
