Description of the variety of violets "dandy"

Care and maintenance of violets

When caring for violets, the following conditions must be observed:

  • Bright light is essential for keeping a flower. The abundance of flowering and the brightness of the color of flowers depend on the illumination. But at the same time, the violet does not tolerate direct sunlight. Burns appear from them, which are expressed in the appearance of yellow spots on the leaves and flowers. Plants blooming with white flowers are most susceptible to burns.
  • Place on the windowsill. Violet Tristan will grow on any windowsill, but it is preferable to choose windows from the north side. It should be noted that the evening rays of the setting sun will not harm the violet. If it happens that you only have south and west windows, then you need to do shading. To do this, you need to glue a sheet of tracing paper to the bottom of the glass or hang a curtain from dense tulle. It will allow enough light to pass through and protect plants from direct sunlight.
  • Blooming all year round. To do this, it is necessary to use artificial lighting for at least 12 hours a day. The air temperature should be at least 18 degrees, and the plants should not be exposed to drafts. Lighting will have no effect on Tristan Violet if the temperature drops below 15 degrees.
  • Protect from cold. In winter, on cold windowsills, it is advisable to overlay pots with plants with any material with thermal insulation, while slightly limiting watering.

Having evaluated all the conditions in the apartment, you can place the violets in a suitable place for them. And they, in turn, will thank you with the beauty of their flowers and will bloom all year round.

Diseases and pests

Like field violets, pansies are affected by root rot when over-watered. If you notice that the plant has begun to rot, prune the affected areas and cut back on watering.

Powdery mildew and rust rarely affect pansies. If you notice these diseases, spray them with soapy water or a special product. The same advice can be given for the defeat of aphids and spider mites.

Observing all the requirements for care, you will not have a question: "Why does not the violet bloom?"

Violet Wittrock is an unpretentious flower that has fallen in love with many gardeners and landscape designers. It goes well with all flowers: tulips, daffodils, asters, daisies. It is planted in open areas, along curbs and under trees.

A little about violets

In nature, the color of violets is limited mainly to blue, blue and purple. Breeders offer a choice of plants of any color range and more than 20 thousand different varieties. Among violets, popular indoor flowers, there are many different types:

  • standard - amaze with a variety of shapes and shades;
  • chimeras - stun with the special color of the flower;
  • ampelous - have several points of growth:
  • wasps - stand out with a special flower shape;
  • miniatures - called gnomes for their tiny size.

These small but touching flowers, standing on the windowsill, give the house a special cozy atmosphere.

Variety and sport of violets

Often, when growing the violet Tristan, the photo and description of which this article is devoted to, surprises arise - the plant does not bloom according to the variety. The color of the flower, and sometimes the leaves, differ from the original. Breeders have bred many magnificent violets, which perfectly transmit their varietal characteristics by inheritance. But there are also options for sporting when the grown children do not retain all the varietal properties of their parents. In this case, the plants are called sports. This often happens with fantasy varieties, which include the violet Tristan. Some sports look more attractive than their parents and are even registered as new varieties.

Some varieties are not prone to sporting, especially monochromatic Saintpaulias, but in this case there are exceptions. There are those that bloom differently every season and are always beautiful. Some violets, especially those with bicolor flowers, change color over time and become darker in color. This may be due to the conditions of detention - high acidity of the soil, high temperature. This situation is corrected by returning the previous conditions of detention. But if Saintpaulia bloomed with sports, then it will never become a variety again.

Reproduction

Violets are very unpretentious, propagated by leafy cuttings. The best time to root leaves is early spring and summer. Each healthy leaf of Saintpaulia is a mature organ and is able to create its own roots, which will serve as the beginning of new plants that repeat the parental properties. To root the leaves, use water, substrate, humus tablet or moss. Leaves take root in the soil most quickly.

Cuttings of the violet Tristan, described below, are planted in small plastic pots and covered with a plastic bag on top until the children appear. The greenhouses obtained are periodically ventilated. Grown up children are transplanted into prepared soil.

Transfer

Violet Tristan (the photo shows a plant transplant) twice a year requires replacing the substrate in the pot in order to maximize the use of nutrients from it.

The most suitable time for transplanting is autumn (September to November) and spring (February-March). The transplant is done in order to enable new roots to grow. The root system of violets is aging rapidly and therefore needs updating. New roots appear only from the fresh part of the trunk, which is above the ground. When transplanting, old leaves are removed from the trunk and it is placed in the soil. The emergence of new roots will cause the growth of fresh leaves and strong peduncles. Sometimes flowering plants are also transplanted. With proper care, this procedure will not harm the violet, it will only suspend flowering a little.

You should not increase the volume of the pot when transplanting. Violet varieties Tristan feel great in small pots. They stimulate flowering, and large ones contribute to the rapid growth of leaves and a delay in bud formation. When transplanting, you should make good drainage in a pot, violets do not like stagnant water.
