Violet rosemary

What a violet looks like, a description of popular varieties with names and photos

Saintpaulias belong to the Gesnereev family. They grow in natural conditions and in pots indoors.

Wild

Among those growing in natural conditions, saintpaulias are widespread:

  • Velvet (leaves with uneven edges, the upper side of the leaf plate is dark green, the lower one has a reddish tint; violet flowers with a dark core, small, form inflorescences);
  • Grotte (leaves are bright green; inflorescences are blue with a shade of purple, the diameter of each flower is up to 2.5 cm);
  • Violet (the leaves are dark green, the plant blooms in blue-violet color).

In their natural environment, violets can only be found in the mountainous regions of Africa. They are distributed near rivers and lakes. They grow in ravines, under large branched trees. Saintpaulias love partial shade, do not take root well and grow in areas with drafts.

Important

Saintpaulias do not grow well in places where there is a lot of sunlight. Plants wither and die from their overabundance.

Growing difficulties

Almost all growers sooner or later face certain difficulties in growing decorative flowering plants. Violet Le Rosemary can also cause some trouble for its owners, but for the most part they are all associated with violations of the requirements for flower care. The most common problems include:

  1. Lack of flowering. Check the lighting level (daylight hours should be at least 12 hours) and the volume of the pot (it should not be too spacious).
  2. Darkening and falling off of sheet plates. Perhaps the leaves are in contact with a cold window, when watering, they get water (especially cold) or direct sunlight. Recheck the relevance of the growing conditions for Le Rosemary violets.
  3. Bend the edge of the leaf plates of the flower. Most often, this phenomenon is due to planting in acidic soil, and it is best to transplant the plant as soon as possible.
  4. Yellowing of the leaves and the appearance of a yellow border on them. It is likely that the flower lacks nutrients, so it is better to revise the feeding schedule or transplant the violet into a more nutritious substrate.
  5. Incomplete disclosure of flowers and their rapid drying. Perhaps the room has a high temperature and increased dryness of the air, and the plant itself is planted in a pot with acidic soil. Try replanting the violet in neutral, loose soil.
  6. Leaves hang from the pot. The main reason is too bright sunlight and increased dryness of the air. As soon as you make the lighting more diffuse and increase the humidity in the room, everything should be back to normal.

Separately, it is worth remembering the pests and diseases of the violet Le Rosemary, which also negatively affect the appearance of the plant. Usually, spots, plaque, holes in the leaves, or rotting of cuttings are considered the first signs of problems. The cause of any disease is the same improper care of the plant, as a result of which it begins to suffer from powdery mildew, rust, late blight or gray rot.

Of the pests of violets, thrips, scale insects and mites threaten, the appearance of which is also accompanied by the formation of small spots, holes, cobwebs and sticky plaque on the leaves. To remove them from the plant will help insecticides - "Agravertin", "Aktara" or "Actellik".

In general, caring for the Le Rosemary violet is no more difficult than caring for other varieties of this plant, and all that is required from the grower is to unswervingly follow the above recommendations regarding flower placement, watering, feeding and transplanting. If you figure it out, none of these actions will be too difficult for both an experienced and a novice florist.

Potential diseases and pests

Diseases of the violet rosemary develop against the background of a violation of the rules of care.

The plant can undergo fungal diseases:

  • powdery mildew;
  • rust;
  • late blight;
  • gray rot.

A sign of illness is the appearance of spots or plaque on leavesrotting cuttings.

When such signs appear, the violet must be transplanted into a new pot, removing diseased leaves. The plant is sprayed with a fungicide: Fundazol, Copper sulfate.

In addition to diseases, insect pests cause a lot of troubles when growing violets: thrips, scale insects, ticks. If small specks, holes, cobweb, sticky plaque appear on the leaves, then a pest has settled on the plant.

To combat pests, the violet is washed with soapy water, and then sprayed with an insecticide: Agravertin, Aktara, Aktellik.

Terry large white wavy pom-pom star with bright pink prints and fantasy blue splashes.

Dark green toothed, slightly wavy foliage with a red underside. The cuttings are red, as is the shade of the inner side of the leaf plate. Standard. The rosette is easy to form, dense, but when there is a lack of light, it raises its “hands up”. Rosette 32 cm in diameter.

The flowers are large, double and semi-double, with wavy edges of the petals, white with wide pink a spot on each petal lavishly strewn with dots and touches of bright fantasy blue. The fantasy pattern is very diverse - dots, strokes, small spots, each flower is individual.

Very contrast coral pink and dark blue fantasy on it. The number and size of the fantasy, as well as the color of flowers on the same plant, can be different each time. The flowers are very dense with a wavy edge of the petals. Flowers-pompons up to 6 cm in size.

Blooms incessantly. Moreover, the break between the first and second flowering was small. Short stalks form a bouquet in the center of the rosette. Powerful peduncles, each of them has 5-6 large, luxurious flowers, it turns out that one peduncle is already creating a bunch.

Flowers look very beautiful against the background of dark foliage. In the heat, the white leaves the flowers completely. The variety has darkened, but beautifully. To have more white you need coolness.

Easy to care for. Easily propagated by cuttings, gives many children. Gives many sports with blue and blue with white border.

Do you know that…?

Cuttings are planted in plastic pots with a diameter of 5 cm or other plastic containers. Holes are made in the glass to drain excess water. To do this, use a preheated old screwdriver with a rubber handle, or you can cut off small sections of the rib on the bottom of the glass with scissors. Drainage is poured onto the bottom by 1/4: small expanded clay, washed and calcined in the oven, or pieces of polystyrene, then an earthen mixture. A recess is made in it, into which perlite is poured with the addition of an earthen mixture (3: 1). It is not recommended to pour pure perlite into the recess, because it dries up very quickly, and it is rather difficult to fix a large sheet in it in a motionless state. And a cutting is planted in this mixture.
