What types of wheels are there?
A wheel for a garden wheelbarrow can be pneumatic (with a tire into which air is pumped), cast rubber and polyurethane. In this case, the material of the disc is not so important, since it is the tire that is exposed to the maximum load during operation.

Pneumatic wheel
A rim for pneumatic wheels is based on a tire that has treads. Inside, there is usually a camera, which, for reliability, is made using two layers of rubber. Discs can be made of metal or polypropylene. If a bearing is provided by the manufacturer at the fixing point, then the trolley will move more smoothly.
Advantages:
- Increased lifting capacity. A wheel of this type can, depending on its size, withstand a weight of up to 300 kg. This is convenient for frequent use.
- Passability. With large wheels, the trolley can be moved even on very uneven surfaces.
- The movement is practically silent. This is an important parameter. because during long-term transportation of goods, noise can affect the human condition and lead to fatigue.
- Smoothness of movement. Due to the softness of the tire and the presence of a bearing, you can smoothly move the load on any surface.

On cast rubber
The cast rubber garden cart wheels are made from high quality materials. The disc is made of cast steel. Additionally, galvanizing is carried out for reliability and protection against metal corrosion. Due to this, a high structural reliability, strength and durability are achieved, in addition, the design features of the connection allow you to quickly change the wheel.
The downside is a fairly low load limit. Do not load such a cart with a mass exceeding 200 kg. In addition, there is a slight shaking when driving, so such carts are not well suited for transporting fragile goods.
Note! Since the tread tire is cast, the wheelbarrow can be used on rough surfaces where pneumatic specimens deteriorate quickly.
Polyurethane foam
This material is an alternative to cast and pneumatic versions. A polyurethane tire cannot be punctured like a cast tire. At the same time, the smoothness and running characteristics are the same as for pneumatic wheelbarrows. Polyurethane is characterized by high shock absorption properties, wear resistance, durability. No additional maintenance is required to maintain performance.
Advantages of polyurethane wheels:
- Protected from rust, can work in environments that are unfavorable to metal.
- Withstand both high and low temperatures.
- Resistant to mechanical damage and puncture. Because of this, it is possible to work even in areas with a large amount of stones or metal waste.
- There is no need to regularly inflate the tires. The only care you need is to regularly clean the tires from dirt.
- The rigid tread allows the trolley to move over any surface, including slippery or loose soil.
- They exert little pressure on the soil, therefore, when working on the lawn, the grass is not mechanically damaged.
- The material almost does not conduct electric current, which makes it possible to use wheelbarrows with such wheels in places with a danger of high-voltage shock.
- The thermal conductivity of the material is also low, which makes it possible to use wheelbarrows at elevated temperatures.
