Grape varieties grown in the Voronezh region

grape varieties grown in the Voronezh regionHello! I am Alexander Ivanovich Sukhonosov. Born in 1961 in the village of Vorontsovka, Voronezh Region. I grew up here and live here. I have been engaged in viticulture since 1982. Tried and rejected 130 varieties. Now I have 145 varieties growing. More than half have been planted recently and have not yet borne fruit. Usually, about 40 varieties grew in my vineyard, and for some time I did not look for new varieties, but about seven years ago in a letter I was criticized by Mikhail Fedorovich Abuzov for my assortment, and I realized how far behind other winegrowers - amateurs. I'm trying to catch up. I wrote magazines in the mail: "Household economy", "Winemaking and viticulture of the USSR", then "Gardening and viticulture", then - "Grapes and wine of Russia", "Gardening, viticulture and winemaking in Moldova", "Garden, vegetable garden", but instead of the latter, the postman sometimes brought a “gradina” in Moldovan, the time was like this: not all issues of the magazines reached the post office. There was little information in these magazines for a simple amateur, I was mainly interested in the description of new varieties. A real discovery for me was the "Rural Dawns", albeit meager, but there was a description of new products, articles by amateurs - winegrowers. For a long time I corresponded with the oldest winegrower of the Belgorod region - Grigory Andreevich Rozhkov, I am very grateful to him for the exchange of experience and for the varieties that he sent me. Many thanks to Ivan Maksimovich Filippenko, although he always sent thin cuttings, he was the only institute of the TsGL, from where they could send grape cuttings to ordinary amateurs. In the regional newspaper "Communa" there was a ruble "Usadba", they wrote about everything except grapes. I dared and wrote a letter with a complaint, in response I received an offer from the editor of this section, Mikhail Fedorovich Abuzov, to write me an article about grapes. As a result, my article, edited by Mikhail Fedorovich, was published on April 25, 1996, and was called "The Solar Miracle Berry." Then there was a brochure with articles by winegrowers. Then they took photographs of grape varieties for Abuzov's book "Grapes from the Black Earth Region to the Moscow Region". Then there was a difficult period in my life. Then there was a planting of the vineyard in a new place and moving. A year later, he uprooted the old vineyard. All over again: installation of trellises, then their reconstruction for a different shaping of the bushes. Abuzov suggested writing an article for the book Atlas of Northern Grapes, which I did. Then he received an offer to appear in a report on the TV show "Vesti - Voronezh". Now, whenever possible, I communicate with my friends-winegrowers. In addition, read the article “Thirty Years with Love for the Vine” on the website.
