And finally, about my favorites. This is Ivorine - the top of elegance in white, the flowers are dense, the height of the stems is from 150 cm. Unfortunately, it grows very lazily - for 6 years that it has been growing in my garden, there is not even a hint of the appearance of daughter bulbs. Another variety worthy of attention - Bronze Medallion... A real giant with a powerful, curly inflorescence in reddish tones. This variety, fortunately, grows relatively well. The height of the stems is from 170 cm, the leaves are very large, shiny.

Taking into account the length of the roots, it turns out that the soil must be cultivated to a depth of at least 50 cm.

The place may be partially shaded. The best planting time is the end of August - September. It is at this time that the bulbs are sold by specialized nurseries and collectors. Spring planting will postpone the full flowering period for a year or two.

These lilies are responsive to mulching, and feeding with well-filled soil is carried out starting from the second or third year after planting, they have enough calcium nitrate in the spring and potassium monophosphate in early August. if such fertilizers are not at hand, you can feed them with full mineral fertilizers. Deep watering in dry weather, treatment against pests and diseases - in a word, ordinary garden activities.

Marchgon lilies are susceptible to common bulbous diseases (fusarium, bulbous rot). The reason provoking their development may be the increased humidity of the environment. The advantage of marchagon lilies is their durability... The bulb can live up to 25-30 years.
The disadvantage is that they reproduce vegetatively, they are not too willing. That is why their seedlings are not cheap.

Breeding

Propagation of martagon by seeds quite laborious and only true fans of this plant can do it.
If you plant them yourself with seeds, then you have to wait for the first flowering from 4 to 7 years.
Sowing the seeds of the lily marchagon is carried out in the fall; in the first summer of life, only a small seedling with a root and a bud is formed, which is located underground. To prevent the area from overgrowing with weeds, place an opaque lutrasil or even a regular board on top.
On the surface, the seedling will appear only next spring, that is, one and a half years after planting, only one leaf!
After another year, you will see 2 leaves. And only then, at the age of three years, a stalk of 15-25 cm in height will form.
