Beautiful rhododendron in the photo
Under natural conditions in Russia, rhododendrons grow in the Caucasus, some species are found in Siberia and the Far East. The rhododendron in the photo is an amazing plant that amazes with the beauty and splendor of its flowering. Growing a rhododendron in a personal plot is a completely doable task, but it requires the application of certain skills.
To achieve good growth and stable flowering of rhododendrons, you must try to follow the following rules:
1. The correct choice of site for planting a plant. The most important thing is to avoid lowlands and hollows, where water can stagnate or cold air can accumulate, and windy places are also not suitable. Deciduous varieties are less picky, which, moreover, do not require shading.
2. Thorough preparation of the soil for planting. For one rhododendron, a hole is dug with a depth of 30-40 cm and a width of 60-70 cm, respectively. After which the pit is filled with soil mixture. The ideal soil composition for rhododendrons is peat mixed with sand, with a high humus content. Such a mixture is prepared from sour peat, coniferous soil, leafy soil and river sand in a ratio of 3: 1: 2: 1; you can prepare a mixture of sour peat, fallen needles, sawdust and sand in a ratio of 2: 1: 1: 1. Also, 200 g of mineral fertilizer and 40 g of sulfur per 1 cubic meter are added to the soil mixture.
3. Planting material - three-year-old rhododendrons, which are planted in the spring before the beginning of the growing season.
4. Planting is carried out with a lump of earth, without exposing the roots. The lump must first be placed in a container with water so that it is completely saturated. When planting, in no case should the root collar be deepened - the plant will not bloom.
With proper care, timely watering, mulching and feeding, the rhododendron in the photo will delight the owners with its beautiful flowering for many years.
