Caring for papiopedilum at home
Another name for papiopedilyum is the lady's slipper. It was caused by the lower lip of his flower, which resembles the toe of a shoe. Getting inside it, insects are covered with pollen, and then pollinate other branches of the plant. At home, in South Asia, this orchid is common in forests. under the trees on mossy stones and moss cushions. In our conditions, it is grown as a houseplant. Caring for a papheopedilum at home is not difficult, if you remember that the plant constantly needs high humidity. If you don't have a humidifier. you will have to regularly spray it with soft, settled water at room temperature.
Paphiopedilum should be placed in a lighted place, but shade from the direct sun, remember that at home it grows in forests. In winter, the plant needs a low temperature, about 14-16 degrees, and the difference between day and night temperatures should not be more than 6 degrees. Ventilate the room regularly. Caring for papheopedilum requires regular watering, but in winter it is slightly reduced, but not allowing the substrate to dry out. During the active growing season, papiopedilium is fed with mineral fertilizers every two weeks.
This orchid is transplanted as needed, making up a substrate of forest land, humus and charcoal. After transplanting, the plant is usually sick, do not water it for 20 days, but only spray the air, so it adapts faster in new dishes. The plant propagates by dividing the bush. Getting seeds at home is not easy due to the difficulty of pollination. And it is very difficult for these seeds to germinate, therefore, growing papheopedilum from seeds at home is not practiced.
