Astra: care and cultivation
Perennial flowers are especially popular with amateur flower growers. Asters stand out from autumn plants, which do not require any special care. Currently, more than 800 varieties of asters have been bred, so each grower can plant a favorite variety on his site.
A distinctive feature of this flower is a wide range of colors, covering not only light, but also dark shades of almost the entire color palette. Also, the varieties differ in the shape of the petals, the flower itself and the leaves.
Aster, whose care consists only in watering, removing weeds, fighting some pests and diseases, as well as feeding, can grow on any soil. However, for bright and lush flowers, it is recommended to choose fertile soil, slightly loamy or sandy loam.
The most common way to grow asters is by seed. To obtain fast shoots, the seeds are preliminarily wrapped in a cotton cloth treated with a light solution of potassium permanganate, in which they must be kept for at least 10 hours. Then, in early spring, they are planted on the site.
As already mentioned, aster, the care and cultivation of which does not require the application of excessive efforts, still needs certain conditions. Even fertile soil must be periodically fed with mineral fertilizers. As for the choice of location, the best of all aster will grow in the open sun, although some varieties develop well in partial shade.
Observing these simple requirements, you can grow a very beautiful flower garden from different varieties of asters.
