Growing rose hips
Rosehip is a very valuable medicinal plant, since its fruits contain many useful substances and vitamins. Growing rose hips is a simple matter if you follow the advice of experienced summer residents.
There are a large number of species of this shrub, and each of them has its own value. When choosing a site for a rose hip, you need to know that the plant loves light and grows well in elevated areas with fertile soil.
Growing rose hips, like any other plant, begins with planting. This shrub can be planted in spring or fall. When planting several shrubs, it is necessary to maintain a distance of about two meters between them. For each plant, a hole should be dug at least half a meter deep with a diameter of 60 to 70 centimeters. Mix the soil with organic and mineral fertilizers and plant a seedling.
Rosehip care means regular loosening of the soil and timely pruning of old, weakened, and broken branches. After seven years, fruiting productivity is significantly reduced, therefore, it is necessary to get rid of such branches. By performing such rejuvenating pruning, the bush will be able to bear fruit for another five years.
When growing rose hips, you will probably have to deal with such pests as spider mites, leaf rollers and rose-colored aphids. Some shrub species are prone to black spot and rust. Depending on the disease, the rosehip should be sprayed with special chemical compounds that are freely sold in stores.
