Mouse peas
These peas have nothing to do with peas that are eaten. Although they sound very similar, they are actually completely two different plants. Mouse peas got their name from the Russian nickname, which is customary to call something not real.
It is very hard not to notice this plant. It has very characteristic purple or pink inflorescences. The inflorescences of this plant form clusters of 25 or more flowers. Inflorescences can be as long as leaves. Leaves are formed similarly to flowers. One branch can have about 12 leaves, which are arranged in pairs. The leaf can be up to 3 sentiments in length.
This plant blooms from May to late summer. In June or July, the fruit ripens. The fruits of mouse peas are oblong in shape, up to 3 centimeters in size.
This type of pea is propagated vegetatively or by seeds. Although the inflorescences of this species are very attractive, you will not see them for several years. This plant blooms only for 3-4 years of life.
This plant is perennial. Although most often it can be found on the roads, it can also be grown to feed all kinds of livestock. This culture does not tolerate grazing, but it tolerates the mowing process well. After mowing, the plant grows back vigorously.
Interestingly, mouse peas contain about 30% protein and a large amount of vitamin C. Therefore, if you need a fodder crop for livestock, mouse peas are very suitable. Good luck with your cultivation and a good harvest.
